Sign up for the "Offline F1 Championship 2006"!

Hi to all passionate F1 fans,
The Formula One Passion Union (F1PU) is organizing an "Offline F1 Championship" were members will compete for the Offline F1 Championship title!

Here's how things will work, each player will play at home and follow the rules that are stated below.

Here are the Rules:
1. The game "Formula One 2005" for the Playstation 2 is the only game that will be used.
2. The calender will be same as the calender of the 2006 real season.
3. You will pick up a driver and a team from the existing drivers and teams in the game and play a normal race weekend at 20% race distance.
4. You are free to play practice or not, but you must play the qualification session and enter the race according to your qualification number.
5. The used difficult will be "Normal".
6. No driver aids whatsoever, i.e. no ABS, no auto-brakes, no driver lines and all of that.
7. It's up to you to choose to play using manual or automatic transmission.
8. The points will be awarded just like the real Formula One season.
9. No cheating, this will be a proper championship, i.e. no offroading, no repeating the race for a faster time.
10. The deadline to sign up is the 8th of March 2006. Late sign up will not be accepted.
11. The times will be posted on a special thread, and the points will be awarded accordingly.

We trust that you WILL be honest and follow the rules exactly with no cheating.

Firstly, you're saying that we have to use a PS2 game to play it. For those who are good at it, they'll have an advantage.

Secondly, how sure are you about someone's honesty? Even I can say that I played and I won. Maybe I don't even have that game.

So, I suggest you make something like Fantasy Formula 1.

Participants choose 2(two) different drivers from any team, and they will get points according to their drivers. For example, points wil be awarded to the driver who qualifies in the top ten. 10 points if he gets pole position and 1 point if he qualifies in tenth. You should understand how the system goes.

As for wins, the points system will follow the normal F1 system. 10 for the winner and 1 for the eight place.

Now comes the twist. For every retirement from a race, 5 points will be deducted. Every disqualification 15 points will be deducted.

but we have to make our minds up about what we are goin to do before the season starts....

i think we should do Fantasy F1. but like aloushi said, its up to us lot to make the decision.

Fantasy F1 and I pick Schumacher. Michael Schumacher, that is. And, second driver gonna be tough. Maybe Alonso.

With the qualifying format looks similiar like the 'Ferrari Era' and tyre changing back in, I think Schumacher gonna retire on a high-note.

Shoot, I choose the Ferrari team.  But, I think the format should be hard with no aids and manual in full mode, like the real thing.  I play all my GP games that way, F1 or Moto.\

Fantasy F1, since i haven't got the game nor the internet for the PS2.

Okay guys, I thought about this for a long time and I think that we should do the following:
1. We will follow the fantasy championship, but we will name it "Vision Formula 1 2006 Championship, or "Vision F1 2006" for short.
2. For now, you just say that you want to sign up by simply posting and saying that you want to participate.
3. For each race, and to make things tougher, you have to predict who will win the pole position and the first 3 in the race. For each right guess, you receive 3 points, for each wrong guess you lose 3 points.
4. Any late entries will start from zero points.

Example: You predict that Alonso will take the pole position, and you predict that Alonso will be first, Kimi second and M. Shumacher third. For each right prediction you WIN 3 points, for each wrong prediction you LOSE 3 points!

For this time, and due to the time limits, everyone will receive 3 points for qualifying. But now each one will post his predictions for the race and I will make a new separate thread for the championship!

NOTE: If you think that you have a better name for this championship please share your ideas!

Players are allowed to guess 8 drivers for the race and pole position.  If you guessed the right driver for the actual race you get the points in official race plus bonus points of the actual race.  If you guessed a place for a driver but he scores higher or lower than predicted then you get the lower of the points allocated.  If you guessed a driver but he didn't score then minus 3 pts.

If Alonso wins and you guessed Alonso, you get a bonus 10 pts plus the 10 pts you guessed it to make it 20 pts.  You guessed Kimi for 2nd, but he scored 4th, so you get 5 points.  You guessed Schumi for 3rd and he scored 3rd then you get 12 pts (6 + 6 bonus).  You guessed Coultard for 4th but he DNF, so you get -3pts.  You guessed Button for 5th but he got second, so you only get 4pts.  If you guessedThis way there is a huge reward for predicting the right driver, little points for guessing the driver in the points but not the exact finishing position, and punishment for guessing a driver that will score but didn't finish in the points.
