Well he did take pole.

I dont think he will win it though. My pick for the race win would be Alonso followed by Fisichella if his car dont fail. I think Button would be lucky enough to finish as high as 3rd, but Montoya was actually heading for pole so expect him and teammate Raikkonen to be right up there. It would also be nice to see Webber on the podium.

i want to see button win, not just because i'm English its because he deserves it after 102 F1 races in his career and not one of them a win.

after all this time and so many attempts at race wins, he deserves this one by far.

I'm watching the race live, Yes at 4am

I also would like to see him win or Mark Webber at his home race. As long as Alonso doesn't win otherwise he will be starting to run to far away.

I always watch F1 live ever since my first race back in 96 Imola and I never missed a one so far. Btw Kipi I thought the race starts at 5am uk time, here in Holland it starts at 6am and here its one hour ahead.

It was an exciting race!

Alonso deserved the win; his car had excellent settings and he didn't make mistakes.

I think that Kimi could have won the race if he didn't brake too much when he overtook Button. That affected his tyres a lot, and consequently he wasn't able to give optimum performance.

I expected M. Shumacher to make an accident, his car was not performing well and then he drove recklessly. That wasn't his true performance.

Massa was not convincing, I think the Ferrari made a miskate by letting Barichello leave and giving the spot to Massa. This was a terrible race for the Ferrari.

I felt really sad for Button, he was like 15-20 metres away from the finish line. Man, I can imagine how frustrating that was for him. He could have gave better performance, but his car couldn't keep up with the Renault and the McLaren.

Let that was an action packet race, well Alonso just delivered what was expected from him, great win. The McLarens had a good pace to and its therefor unfortunat that Montoya had one of his unsteady days, I reckon he would have finished 2nd, great bit of car controle though to keep out of the wall. M. Schumacher was less lucky, but we could be in for a good race at Montreal(note final chicane), no seriously Schumacher was flat out in a car that was again not fast enough. Good drive by BMW, Heidfeld should have made the podium if it wasnt for Albers holding everyone up after the restart to allow Ralf through and a good drive by Villeneuve from the back. Well shame for Button but he already had a poor race pace, shame for Fisichella since he would have been on the podium, shame for the Williams team, Massa was back in form with another incident on the very first lap and good for Toyota and Ralf to get a podium place. And Speed was dropped from eight after overtaking under yellow.

i think Ralf had a very good race coming 3rd, it was an exciting race with so many crashes alonso is running away with the championship but thing can change in the european circuits. i too felt sorry for button but they decided not to finish the race beacause then they woulkd have got an engine penalty in imola, they really need to sort their heat exchange system out so the tyres get heated up quick enough other honda might fall back

DeathStar17

Actually Montoya knocked himself out. He got out of the final corner far too hot and went over the same bump Schumi went but unlike Schumi saved it spectaculairy. But as he landed it caused the car to enter some kind of save mode and then switched off, it had nothing to do with the touche with Button earlier on, it was a good move though.

Great race full of race-breaking incidents. Alonso still managed to win despite the SC coming out. Shumacher & Massa retire with busted up Ferrari's. Klien out with a severly damaged Red Bull. Button blows up some 75 yards from the finish lol...Why didn't Honda take the 3 Points and taken the 10place Grid Deduction. Surely they will regret that. Ralf Shumacher had a great race and a deserved 3rd place.

Montoya hit the same bump as Shumacher but Montoya hit the Pit Lane Speedometer which caused his engine to fail.

Although Montoya retired from the race, i was impressed by the way he kept control of his car and din't crash!
Yet, this is the typical Montoya; fast but not careful enough! ;)

I think it would be interesting to see Montoya and Coulthard work together at Red Bull, if it does happen Red Bull would have expirenced drivers in their 3rd year in F1, that would be a good advantage to have.

it would be interesting to see, i'm sure you lot agree
