In this topic you can discuss anything about the first race of the season in Bahrain.
So that includes: pre-race predictions(preview), discussion of all sessions + race results and the after talk(review), as long if its related to this Grand Prix.

I think the new qualifying format is great, its like a little race before the main event on sunday. I feel bad for Kimi though, at the back of the grid in the first race of the season cant be good for the morale of him or the team. Im hopin Jenson can make somethin of his 3rd grid slot this time and not do his usual trick of getting up there then losin it on the start/first corner.

For those of you that don't know, Kimi Raikkonen's problem with his new McLaren MP4-21 was that in the suspension the Wishbone had failed causing his accident in qualifying. I feel sorry for him, how many more problems is he going to have to face.

My opinion on Qualy

I thought it was ok, for sure much better then all the other formats they tried over last few seasons(the single lap BS). But I still feel the old 1 hour is the best.

I was somewhat suprised by the performance of Ferrari didnt expect them to be right up there(at this stage), other suprises: Webber, Heidfeld and Klien, they did a really good job imo. I was also a bit suprised by Montoya being at the sharp end, I was expecting the McLaren to be at the lower end of the top ten(for the start of the season anyway). Also a bit dissapointed by Renault, I thought at least one car would make the top three.

Final Race prediction(since I wont be here till after the race tomorow):

My favorite for the win is Michael Schumacher, I think he can take this one unless Massa takes him out at the first corner. Im expecting Massa to either mistake at some point and drop back or to just drop back, Button is looking good for a podium but having said that he's got Alonso and Montoya behind him and just perhaps may be carying more fuel. I dont think Raikonen will get higher then eight(if he finishes), some people even think he might make the podium but from my point of view thats very unlikely and unrealistic. I think both Williams and BWM-Sauber are looking quite good for points but I cant see Klien holding a points position for long. It will definitly be a interesting race imo.

1. M. Schumacher
2. Button
3. Montoya
4. Alonso
5. Webber
6. Fisichella
7. Heidfeld
8. Rosberg

I'm from England

My driver of the day has to be Nico Rosberg, although he finished 7th, if he didn't have his nosecone knocked off at the start, he could of been fighting with Button and Raikkonen.

Yeah! Good start for Ferrari. If Massa didn't spin (probably the usual rookie error), I'll think he too will be fighting for the podium.

I agree with you on Rosberg, definitly the drive of the race. Also a great drive by Raikkonen.

Now that's what I call a race! :)
It was one of the best and most exciting races, and those V8 ain't that bad after all!

I think that Kimi was the king of the race; he started from the last position and managed to win the 3rd place! His team deserves credit as well for the excellent strategy and the strong car!

I was surprised to see a problem in the Renault's car wih Fisichella; they usually have the most durable car!
Toyota's performance was terrible; I expected much better performance from the most money-spending team in F1!
Mark Webber was good as well!

Looks like Formula One is on the right track after all! ;)

I was so upset at Schumacher losing, I actually felt sick when he lost the race to Alonso.  Bad times, even though it was a good race overall, I could not stand to watch the replay.  Felt like it was a farce.  We'll get them next time.
