FFVII is like FFVIII, its not really about speed, its what you do with the time alloted...FFIX on the other hand, once you've played it through once is all about the speed...FFVII is a game where you can spend a silly amount of time doing virtually nothing constructive, like the golden saucer, but it still being fun. Rushing through a game like makes it very challenging attempting the sidequests and thus not getting full use out of the game...A_Fading_Scream
o only reason i asked was because i just wanna beat the game already so i can play the rest of the VII games

Dude. I would not want to rush through Final Fantasy VII. The storyline has so many layers too it. Every single person in this forum had to replay the game again or several times just to understand what the hell was going. Wait, is this your first play through? If it is, we're all open to any questions that you have.

Ya I remember beating FFVII, and a lot of other RPG's when I was like 11, 12, 13 and thought I understood it. And the more times I played through it, the more I understood. Same goes for today, it helps to play through games atleast 1 more time so you can pick up on things you missed or you made a connection between things.
It's just like anything else too, if you rush your chances for missing something or making a mistake is much higher. Plus FFVII is awesome and you should enjoy your time playing through it. But that's just my advice.

yeah this is my first time playing and so far i think im understanding everything pretty well but i get what u guys mean
thanks!
It's very easy to understand the basics. There's a guy who believes he's an heir to the Planet and he wants to take over the world. But in Final Fantasy VII things aren't what they seem. I'm going to give you a to-do-list.
1. Watch the old records in the abandon house located at Icicle Inn.
2. Get Vincent Valentine from the Nibelheim Mansion.
3. Revisit Nibelheim's secret basement after Cloud rejoins your party on the 2nd disk.
4. Read the books in the main study down in the Nibelheim Basement.
5. Everytime there's a quick flash of light in FFVII it's a clue to what's really going on.
6. There's a NPC named Johnny who appears throughout the game. Talk to him. When you see him in Costa del Sol, make sure you have Tifa in your party.
7. Once you have the Submarine to travel around in, there is a small grotto near a pond surrounded by mountains outside of Nibelheim on the world map. You can only reach it with the Submarine. Make sure you have Vincent Valentine in your party.
Simply 7 for Final Fantasy VII.

The only one I have any clue of what you are talking about it #2 which i just did a couple of days ago.

You will be able to do #1 once you get on the second disk. Icicle Inn is the first town you'll visit. If you go back to Nibelheim and down into the mansion you'll notice there are reports in the library behind the desk. They talk about two test subjects. In the same area you can find unusual writing on these giant test tubes down there too. If you do #3(which regards the same area) it's tied with Crisis Core. You won't get the Submarine until the 2nd disk. On the 2nd disk you'll also get an airship which from the skies near Nibelheim you can see the lake/pond with no way of accessing it. Once you get the submarine you visit it by using a secret path underwater. Make sure to have Vincent Valentine in your party, because that'll set you up with the game, Dirge of Cerberus.
Johnny aka #6 appears to be your typical NPC. A lot of people don't really pay attention to what he has to say, or can't even recall him. But Johnny has history with some of the important characters. He has spikey red hair and if you go back to Costa del Sol with Tifa in your party you might be able to have a short interesting conversation with him. And number #5...well you'll probably only understand it when you beat the game and replay it. lol
VII is nigh on impossible to understand totally until youve played all the games, its amazing, they should make another with the complexity of VII...its the only way they can get away with doing spin-offs, because its so complex, i mean X was at a level of a 4-6 yr olds understanding, the story finnished and there was absolutely no need for a sequel, and look how that turned out, i wud rather do a full days work than play X-2 for longer than an hour...A_Fading_Scream
Ya there is quite a bit going on in VII.
LOL a full weeks work with no pay. I watched a friend play X-2 and that was more than enough to steer me away from that game.
The biggest thing I would suggest is to rush through it and beat it as fast as possible. Why do I say this. Because nine times out of ten you really dont care about doing little side quests when playing a game for the first time. There is so much to this game it is crazy. Play the game again. Spend some time actually leveling up all your materia playing the side games, running through side stories getting the gold chocobo which takes forever and a day. Defeating all the weapons. Getting all the secret Materia. These are all very time consuming things to do and chances are you just want to play the story line the first time. I say play the story line the first time then go back and complete all of the other side quests. It is better to do the side quests after you know the whole story line. Its like putting the final pieces to the puzzle.

I most likely will not play this again because im trying to play as many FF's as possible and i have a lot of work to do. A LOT
If you want speed, play FF8.You can quite literally skim across it as levels doesn't matter. But you still have to play cards to get special cards to turn them into items that you can use for upgrading your G.F(Summons) or upgrading your weapons.FF7 isn't about speed,it's about enjoying the dark and complex storyline, take your time.*P.S FF8 is good too!*z827
Avg. time to beat it? (FFVIII)
If you don't get wrapped up in all the side stuff & maxing out materia's & characters....I say the game is probably about 30-40 hours...just estimating. You can easily spend 150+ hours on it if you go do everything. Last time I played it, I spend over 100 hours easily getting every single thing possible...beating everything...maxing everything. I would never ever ever ever do that again with any game. In the end it's just you who know that you've done it with no real benefit, other than totally wiping out bosses with little problems.
FFX had got to be the worst when it came to maxing out your characters & getting the legendary weapons. Once you do that, the game is easier than learning how to blow bubbles. It made you so uber powerful...but it took some time to get it all. If your just playing the game so you can get some titles under your belt, then I say, play it for the story. Only games that get you hooked make you come back eventually & then you can slowly marinate the game & uncover all the flavors. If you're only on FFVII, you do got a lot of work to do, especially when you reach FFXI....now that's a game that's gonna take you a while to finish... :D
Speaking of FFXI, I got hooked onto that game for a couple of years as it was my first MMOG I've ever played (it was like a drug I tell you)...but I never came close to finishing that game. It will be the only game in the series that most people will either a) never play or b) never finish. Is there anyone in this union who still plays the game? The story was somewhat interesting. I got past the first two parts (expansions) but I stop at Chains & never played the lastest one. I play FF games for the story first & for most & I feel cheated that I'll never be able to finish a game of the main series.

Depending on how you want to play it,it can last quite a bit but still shorter compared to the other FF I think. But if you wanna take it slowly and be the master of this game, you don't need to level up;Monsters level up with you so it's pointless. You have to upgrade your G.F by playing cards, refine the cards into materials and give them to your G.F to make them stronger.(Note that G.F are like Summons except you equip them and stuff)And you need some time to gather materials to upgrade your weapons.(You can't buy weapons, you upgrade them)And of course,if you really want to,stock magic until 100(Magic acts a bit like items in this game, you have to "draw" them from enemies and stuff)So it really depends on how much you intend to do all these. If you intend to be wishy washy and train everything to the fullest,it can actually last quite a bit. Please Log In to post.
