Are you open for a Fallout or Bioshock-type of FF game?

So, it seems like games like Fallout and Bioshock are really well-received... How would you feel if SE decides to make a Final Fantasy game with no party involved, but only one character and the gameplay would in first-person view with the option to play in 3rd person. Are you open for a drastic change in the series like that or you'd rather have SE make another game instead of applying it in the FF world?

It's called 'Final Fantasy', not 'Final Science Fiction'. Square has done this three times already (FFVII, FFVIII, and FFXIII)

I don't know about getting rid of parties, we've had them for every FF game in the main series. Just having one player seems like something that should be reserved for FF games that are 'on the side' (like Dirge of Cerberus (sp?) and Crisis Core)

If I wanted to play Fallout or Bioshock, I would buy Fallout or Bioshock. Final Fantasy got where it is by being Final Fantasy. I don't mind sci-fi themes, though. As I've said before I greatly enjoyed FFXIII, but I also felt it was true to the most important aspects of the series. It seemed like a combination of VII (characters & story), X (pacing and linearity), and IX (story dictates party until the end of the game).

In my opinion, Yoichi Wada (SE Pres.) is taking the company in a terrible direction--firing Japanese workers to buy a western dev team and shunning the FF fanbase to make crappy "western" beat-em-ups like Nier. Gratuitous blood and swearing don't make a good game, Wada-san.

if you mean having FF like a 3rd person game i dont like the idea or if the story was like Fallout or Bioshock i still dont like the idea but i would like to have in FF games the ability to respond to people like in Fallout and yeah i agree with lordgodalming with the story dictates the part until the end i dont like it when the game only talks about the main character (sometimes ) in the whole game it should be able to affect all characters in a way

I strongly second that opinion. FF7 Degree of Cerbrus was a game that featured one playable character and it didn't feel like a true FF game. It felt more like a cheap knock off but at the same it had some of the FF charm but not much.

Bioshock isn't an RPG. Square tried a shooter, and it was AWEFUL. I would think Morrowind would be more fitting and hell no I would not have a problem with that

A first person FF would just be strange, but if they could make it work I would be willing to try it.

Well , we always need a change or two right? :P I think it's best if they retain the party system though , I got really put off in every FF game that doesn't have a party system :X Though I think it'll be better if it's closer to Fallout , imagine using a weapon called the BB Sword!! XD

Edit :

Oh yeah , the Nuclear reactions in this game can be replaced with Mako XP

I would probably be against it. I like having a party and it being in the 3rd person view. :P

If they can combine their style of creating games such as the party system etc with open world feel of Fallout (I'm assuming you are refering to the newer ones by bethesda). Then I believe it can work, it would take some of the die hard fans to adjust but to me it could be a evolution. It would be like the morrowinds but just with FF skins and a better and rich story.

A shooter, I'm not sure I would be skeptical and wait till it would be a good deal but overall i think it would be medicore. Just doesn't fit.

It can work, but they would have to learn a lot from western RPGs
