I would have to say Irvine, if you could get the alot of time on his Shot Limit Break you could impose hundreds of thousands of points of damage on an enemy.

I gotta say Gogo from FF6, being that you could set his menu commands to do ANYTHING anyone else did, and then he could still mimic. I KNOW he had every ability everyone else had it was so great. all you needed was to get the best attacks from the best charaters. Also as much as I hate Tidus he was so good bcus haste was so vital in getting so many extra hits in and he was pretty strong too.
Aeris was useful in FFVII because almost all her limit breaks had something to do with protection or healing. Auron was useful in FFX because of his powerful attacks that did tons of damage.
Final Fantasy IV: Rosa Final Fantasy V: They're all the same really Final Fantasy VII: Cloud or Aeris Final Fantasy VIII: Squall or Irvine Final Fantasy IX: Vivi or Garnet Final Fantasy X: Yuna Final Fantasy X-2: They're basically the same
If we are basing things on usefulness I would have to say Wakka. Honestly that mans limit is so sick that it beats the pants off of anything else that even comes close to it. Cloud in FFVII has the best overall stats, the best limits, and the best growth weapon, making him easliy more useful than anyone in that game, since Aeris never really live long enough to be as great as she could with her sickly good limits. I think everyone in FFVIII is trash, but Zell can be broken if you have the speed and skill to do it. In IX I can't say that anyone is that much more useful than anyone really, but I think Amarant or Vivi are my personal favorites. Kane easily takes IV in usefulness, outside of all the time he spends backstabing you, and Gogo does play the Jack of All Trades in FFVI.
I would have to say Squall, he's the only character I could ever get to deal some serious damage in FFVIII, in no other Final Fantasy did I depend on one character so much, lol.

Ya, but Auron is also useful because of those things that noone else can hurt but he kills them in one hit.
Probably Yuna from FFX, only because her summons were the most powerful things in the game, and she could heal. But I'd have to say, she was probably not my favorite at all.

I like using her Doublecast with Flare. But I think she's not that good untill you get Onion Knight with both Crest and Sigil. Which is probably the most difficult one to get. Considering you have to dodge 200 lightning bolts consecutivley witout being interupted by a battle. I didn't get it, but I still used her the majority of the game because of her Doublecast.
Just like Summons, Espers, Guardian Forces... there are too many characters to chose from but if i had to chose it would be...Cloud from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (i think many of you have chosen this).
Well Auron's banishing blade overdrive was very useful to full break monsters effectively and Vincent was my savior in FF7. Those pesky bugs sometimes can be really annoying without a projectile fighter. Barret wasnt leveled up and Yuffie was weak at that time. So vincent saved the day for me many times :D
