and as a result it changes your path, your quest and your conversations, think about it

if you have any questions i would gladly answer them (like what games have this feature)

I think it should change your conversations and maybe some of your path, but it shouldn't change your quest. Only your actions should change the main quest..not who you let follow you.

this brings up a huge flaw in FF games, with the exception of the sidequests your actions never change the course of your quests

Yeah, but in an FF game it would seem sorta out of place to have your actions affect the story too much. Then the story wouldn't always fit as good.

I agree.

It should also change what some vendors sell to you.

Ex.
A vendor (Male) that is looking for a wife may supply better weapons to you if you have women in your party.

Also just to bring it up it would be nice to switch out the main character.

as in you take multiple story lines and endings, so then the game gos on for a while, though that would sort of dampen the unity moral of FFs

That's what I was trying to say. Multiple story lines is good for some games, but wouldn't work as well in an FF game or at least a traditional one.

True, but that would be a giant departure. It would change the entire feel of the FF game.

well they invest as much time in a spinoff as an actual game, why not have something original?

This is what Star Ocean: Till the End of Time done. You could choose who came with you, and that changed most of the Dialogue sequences.

Actually, I remember reading an interview of Square-Enix about X-2. And they said that making this sequel did not take nearly as much time as to make a game from scratch because the environments were already done and mostly everything was planned out already. They also said they couldn't make VII-2 because the original was for PS and they coudn't use the graphics from that could they? No. Unless they remade all the backgrounds and stuff which would be starting from scratch and taking WAY longer to finish.
