Okay. here's the story.

I was playing FFXII doing some random hunts. I just did a harder hunt and I went to save and then the words:
Failed to save came up. And then it said: corrupted data. So now I gotta go buy another FF XII. But atleast it's worth it...

Dude you have all of my deepest sympathies (says prayer for lost data). The only other time I have heard of this happening was when others have tried to play XII on the PS3. Apparantly it is a coding glitch and it will corrupt the data but it has only happened a few reported times on other forums. (example below)

my entire memory card got wiped once a few weeks ago. i was halfway beating yiazmat too *sigh*

damn, what region are you playing in? i know North Amercia had a problem with the controllers & FFXII

damn, what region are you playing in? i know North Amercia had a problem with the controllers & FFXII-Phaz-
I'm in North America. but I figured out it was my memory card... So I started another file. the problem is my old file was 60+ hours...

It's probably not your disk.  When it says corrupt data, then that means it's on the memory card.  If you don't mind starting over, then I would go onto your memory card, delete you FFXII save; and try starting the game.  If that doesn't work, then it's your disk. :P
