Now I already talked about the opening sequence for Dirge of Cerberus. As fars as the FMVs goes, this appeared to be the thing Square Enix worked on the hardest; they look beautiful. The controls are quite hard to get use to, and sometimes can be cumbersome. But you can adjust your settings as well. You'll be definitely playing this for story more then gameplay in my opinion. The storyline does answer a lot of questions but it also brings up some new ones. In some cases I believed that parts of the story were kind of corny; but for some reason everything fits together. You're often taken out of the gameplay experience with a lot of cutscenes; some things don't even need it. But hey; there is good voice acting.

As far as music goes; I don't hear one theme from the FFVII OST. The music doesn't have that orchestrated style seen from Nobou. But since it isn't his music this new composer went with a different industrial/trance style. You'll either like it or hate it I say.

First person shooters(it maybe in 3rd person put it plays like a FPS) and Japan don't go together. But there is always a first try which Square Enix took a shot at. Aiming your weapon is kind of hard because the camera interferes; so basically Vincent shoots in the direction the camera is facing. There is a online mode which requires the HDD and a monthly fee. The fee his highly unusual but all games played through PlayOnline receive new content so no real worries there. But since I am in a different region I can't connect. So I haven't tried the online mode out, but it sounds interesting.

Honestly if it wasn't for the name Final Fantasy VII, I'd probably would of left this game alone. I have mixed feelings about DoC; it brings back memories but it just makes me fustrated sometimes. Possibly a 3 out of 5 for the Japanese version.

Aiming where the camera points at? Wouldn't that be cumbersome? Isn't there any R1 control for auto-aim?

Once the controls are changed from the default I think there pretty easy. But who plays any FPS or 3rd Person Shooter with Invert Horizontal. Left is right and right is left :|. Well after thats changed the game is pretty fun and the RPG elements are done well.

When I first heard about it I wanted to check it out since they are still continuing the story of FF7. After I saw some clips from the game nothing changed for me at all. I still want to check it out. Though the gameplay did seem a bit like Devil May Cry to me it still looked like a good game. I can just hope that it lives up to it's expectancy.

I just finished DMC3 this evening.

And if SE's planning to beat Capcom in action games, well, good luck to them. I think I got hooked. :3

My first impression of Cirge of Cerubus was " Very inginuative" What I mean is that I like the Idea of square taking some of the more favored and memorable characters and designing seperate titles based off of them. I think it would bring a hole new croud of fans, ones that enjoy shooters/Fantasy based shooters. I think that this is going to open up a whole new sub-genre for fans and Sqaure to explore etc.

yea id probably buy anything with FF on it too. but i dont want square to start comin up with half assed storys featurin old characters. a few might be kool to have games where you can manipulate the weapons but idk if they should use existing FF characters. why doesnt square juststart a new "series" where they use that formula

Well, Dirge of Cerberus is no DMC. It's really like a first person shooter; you can even connect a keyboard and a mouse(to own people online). The melee combat is ok(I guess); it isn't powerful, and you can't jump in the air while using it. I've had fun with it; but it's simply a ok game. But I don't want to change anyone's opinion from my experience. I absolutely love playing it because it's simply Final Fantasy VII.

Einhander was awesome side scrolling shooter on the PSOne. But DoC is entirely different which is a 3rd person shooter.

Well my first impression was that it was going to be another game to come out and then throw away after a week of playing (True Crime Streets Of La) but just recently i have been forced to change my views and i did so and now i cant wait for it to come out cause its going to be hugh (my opinion).
