Do you actually use Potions (Hi, Mega, X, etc)?

From FF1-FFX-2 I never really use Potions as a general means of healing. For some reasons, I always hesistate to use my items. I rather spend my MP casting cure than to consume my items.

However, that changed when I played FF12. After more than 50 hours of saving my hard-earned potions and hi-potions (including ethers) i was forced to use it... and almost consume everything when I fought with the Ahriman boss in the Sochen Cave Palace with my characters' initial equipment.

i dont use a lot...only a few mega or x-potions during boss battles..

When I was playing through IV recently I found that I would use them in dungeons outside of combat to curb MP expenditure, but the effect was generally insufficient for in battle use.  Elixers are always handy and battles, and you need a few Phoenix Downs in case your White Mage dies or is overwhelmed (Which was actually pretty rare, but still it happens when you have 5 characters and three are dead).  I really don't like that Ethers are hard to buy, they're often more useful than potions (X-Potions in IV didn't even fully heal you!).

I think usage tends to go down as you progress through the game.

In FFIX i used them alot cos of auto-potion, but I don't really use them, only at the beginning of the game, but once you get near the end, they just don't heal enough HP, but i always used tp buy 99 Hi-potions, and near actually use them :lol:darkandroid

I don't use Auto-Potion. It is an anoying ability. Even if a party is hit by a very weak attack, you will use a potion/hi-potion.

i was really annoyed with x potion before in FFX, its description said it heals back all heath but in truth it only heals 9999 which almost got me killed in my first fight with a dark aeon RedNEXUS

when it came to boss fight's I made sure that my characters were so amped up that I

layith the smakdownith on the boss. EXAMPLE you all remember kefka right? how many people here

were able to beat him in eight hits? because that's all it took when every character is dealing 9999 in dammage.

I prefer to be the one doing the butt kicking and not the one getting my butt kicked lol

Use Ultima or Bum Rush (Sabin) and yo'll be dealing consistent 9999s regardless of your character.Fantasy_Gamer

I don't remember having any real trouble with Kefka...  Not like Zeromus anyway.  I still can't believe I had to level for 5 1/2 hours in the final dungeon.Axe_336

at the start of every quest game I think everyone uses potions untill they build up

enough magis to use instead of potions.

The only game I really used potions in was Final Fantasy 9. I dont know why, but that game is rather difficult for me.

not to mention the use of a tent to recover your health when there is no inn around. that will force you to use your items.
