From what I've seen on this site it seems like a lot of people nit pick all the games to death. It makes good conversation though. But while playing the game do you nit pick about every little thing? Or just some things? I've been wanting to ask this for a while because it seems some people truley hate some FF games. :) Time to learn about each other. (this is a very open ended question I know)

Personally when I play a Final Fantasy game, I'm in another world. I don't care about little flaws. But when I come onto FFE, it does make good conversation. And sometimes there are things that bother me, but of course they don't bother me enough to quit playing.
I think there is one thing I do like to nit pick at and that is summons. Sometimes they can be great or just useless. But the games as a whole, not really.

How about everyone else?

I always get any FF game available in my place. I play all FFs no matter what others think about it because it is FF and I want to experienc efully wha tit has to offer. I don't judge somthing just based on my initial impression or pompression of some parts of it. I want to know everything about it so as to allow me to make a fully objective opinion.

What is good is very subjtive depending on our standards, but if we know details of something by heart, we can be more appreciative of what it has to offer rather than looking at the negatives.

I think everyone knows my answer. I deffinitely do. I expect certain things from Final Fantasy, and if I don't get them, it has a tendancy to bug me.

I am with him. I might enjoy them to a certain extent, but there are those that I absolutely love. I honestly thought that I was going to fall in love with Final Fantasy XII but I did not. I still believe The Elder Scrolls, and Knights of the Old Republic were some of my favorite roleplaying games in the last generation.

FFXII is the first one I absolutely fell in love with of this current gen. FFIX was the last one that I basically obsessed over how good it was, like I di with FFXII

The first thing I do when I have a new FF game to play is stop being a critic for a while and really get absorbed in the elements of the game. It is true that FF12 has not impressed me as much as FFX did, but I still reliquish upon the same level of contentment that overall, Square Enix has made a wonderful series that has surpassed throughout the last decade.

Sometimes the best form of game appreciation is to watch and play it solitarily. Critics and comments should only be secondary.

Try as I might. I cannot find a flaw in Final Fantasy XII. The game really is just that damn good. It impresses the hell out of me like no FF game from the past 2 generations has. The last FF to leave this big of an impression on me is Final Fantasy VI, which is my personal favorite. FFIX comes close, but not quite. It is an amazing game, but it has flaws. Few as they are, I would say they do exist

I for one feel compelled or even obligated to disect every ff game

Over the years of playing ff titles ive just kinda stumbled upon this habit, WAY back in the day of nes and snes these things did not occur to me, possibly because of the fact that i was younger and didnt care(ignorance is bliss i know)i didnt care why someone was there in that town, or why that guy did what he did, as long as they had an incredible sword and cool portrait, lol but that was when i was younger like i said,  now, being able to comprehend much better and understand good stories i have kinda developed a standard when going into a ff title or any rpg for that matter. Since ff games have already made a name for themselves and i know that 9/10 times im going to enjoy everyff title that comes out, i dont not even glance at a review or a crtitc comment. Game comes out, i buy it, i play it, i play it, and i play it again, then attempt to give a review on it trying to avoid bias opinions, but that is almost imposible, im trying to work on that.

Sometimes its better to just be a simple fanboy and be easily pleased but the unfortunate results our dumb fanboys who live and die for the amazing glory of a ff title(cough* ff7) withought really giving it much thought, these people kinda get under my skin

Ones views on story telling would also evolve as story telling itself evolved. In Final Fantasy I, all that we had story wise besides that game was things like "x person has been kidnapped. Go save them." Final Fantasy (and Phantasy Star also) did not follow that format. IT went much deeper into the story. Itr was the pinacle of video game story telling at the time. As the series evolved, so did it's forms of story telling. FFII introduced set characters and attempted to give them personalities. FFIV deepend it all and attempted to give everything a purpose. All killer. No filler. FFV gave them all back stories. FFVI, the pinacle of the series IMO, took everything Square had learned from the previous 5 games and attempted to perfect it, which it just about did in my opinion. There are a few things I don't like about that game (such as hte 3 dream stooges) but the story and characters are so strong that 14 years (or however many it has been) later, it is still my all time favorite. I love it. I love hte world, the villian, the characters, the characters individual stories, the overall stories, the humor. I love damn near everything about it.

I don't think I could nit pick something I like as much as FF. I think people who nit pick have expectations about it being bad from the get go. If you look hard and long enough you will eventually find something bad to say about it (whether it is there or not). There will always be camera issues, speech issues, translation problems but it's not our job to feel compelled to whine and complain about it to people who have no control over it. If you don't like it...become a tester and work with a Localization office. I feel it is my duty as a major fan of the series to find as much to say about what I like instead of wallowing on the negative. The more you find to like, the more you can relay that enjoyment to others and get even more people loving the series. Nit picking is for people who want there to be problems with something.
