FFE: Non-Final Fantasy Games Discussion Thread

It seems that it cannot be helped for us to discuss other games, and the General Social Discussion Thread appears to be not suited for game discussions so, I decided to make this thread. Here, we can talk about any games not related to Final Fantasy. I would love if we stick with RPGs, but if you want to talk about other game genre, then feel free to do so. :)

I am playing a lot of games at the moment. I used to have a very busy schedule and therefore, not a lot of time to play games. So now, I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of games that I need to play.

My favorite games so far are Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, The Orange Box, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Ace Combat 6 and Assassin's Creed.

I have Galaxy, but I am yet to play, butI will soon! It doesn't help that I'vebeen playing around with some VC games on my Wii alot. I got a PSP for Christmas, and currently only have FFI, but I'll get FFII, and War of the Lions, and some other games. I need to get a new DS because the one I have has a screwed up top screen. I've been doing some random battles in Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.

That's all that is going on in my gaming life. :)

Hm...in terms of RPGs, I am playing Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy I, Brave Story: New Traveler, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Jeanne D'Arc, and Valkrie Profile: Lenneth.

For non-RPGs, Ive got Rock Band, the Orange Box, NCAA 2007, and Halo 3.

I don't have a lot of game time. I've been playing a lot of videogames that are easy to jump in and out of gameplay. NHL 08, Skate, Call of Duty 4, Lumines Live, and of course my new personal favorite -- PUZZLE QUEST. I am so addicted to Puzzle Quest and if it wasn't for the Live's Arcade I'd be lost right now. I can't wait for Rez HD to be release!

I, myself do not even realize I have collected that many games. Same goes with game magazines, which I stopped about 3 years ago... I used to buy GamePro, Expert Gamer, PSM, Tips & Tricks and EGM on monthly basis... I am thinking, the money I used to buy those mags could already buy me a a brand new car. With me stopping to buy game magazines, the only things that eats my savings are games, books and when I treat my friends. I don't even buy a lot of games from my own money, 'coz I have my suppliers... the most prominent of them is my sister who is a nurse. :P I just realized, if I sell at least half of those games, I can buy all 3 of the next-gen consoles. :wink: But, I cannot do it, I see sentimental value in those games. :P

I jtried to check at online game stores for the first time (GameStop), and I was in shock to see PS3 games @ 99.99 USD. I think I'll have lesser game gifts when I get my own PS3. :(

Its an action RPG. But its by Bioware, so the character progression is quite deep. Its only for 360.

And I would reccomend that you play Morrowind first. Oblivion is good, but I think you would get more out of it having played Morrowind.

PS: u have to change discs (theres 4) to travel back to previous towns that were on other chapters, not that the world travel housed any post game chalanges, its railed like the grandia series, beat it and its over, thats it... maybe a few side games, like racing pigs : / weak.....

For 3 USD, LoD is stillquite a catch. It's not great, but I can say it is still worth the experience.

The things that I do not really like in the game is 1. BOSS BATTLES, where bosses keep on casting the same spells over and over (and those spellcasting scenesare about 10+ seconds long each), and2. Yeah, THE MAP. I won't say it is ugly, but it is not the RPGmap we're execting these days.

I do not really mind the graphics. I can set aside my taste for character development (after all, I've played FXII :lol:) for this game. Music... well, not really bad, but just, "so, so".

Wow! I guess, that'll make you FFE's official, atleast, active next-gen guy. As for me, I am stil lvery hooked with my sturdy PS2. :PFantasy_Gamer

You do not have to worry about being broke for now. You have all 3 next-gen game consoles. The games you bought for those games should keep you busy in the next several months.Fantasy_Gamer

Well, I am not really broke actually. :P I started saving money earlier last year because I knew I would spend a lot on games. Still, my pockets are much lighter now and I can definitely feel it.

GrimGrimoire is an RPG. I think it was even nominated in one of the categories in the GS awards.

I just bought Growlanser : Heritage of War and Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm, both for the PS2.

World in Conflict was out of stock. I'll try... Next time... I do not know when it will be. :P

I saw Company of Heroes. It seems a good RTS. What can you say about it? In comparison with World in Conflict?

I am getting close to the end of CAll of Duty 2. Probably finish Hill 400 todayfs_metal

The problem is I do not have a 360, and i do not plan on getting one. Maybe, IF, they will make a PS3 port of Mass Effect... That's the only time i might play the game. For now, I'm still enjoying my PS2. :P

I don't really think of what others think about a particular game. As long as I am enjoying one, it does not matter what others say about it. There were quite a number of games in the past who got the title "game of the year", but I did not findthose games as interesting asothers find it.

However,I never close my door to games, which did not get a good first impression from me. I give chances, just like what happened to FFVIII, FFIX and FFX-2. I did not really enjoy it in my first playthrough although most of the gamers I know hailed those as game of the year in their respective year of release (I don't remember X-2 to get such recognition, though), but I gave those games second chances and in my second playthrough... Wow, I enjoyed it to its fullest extent.

So, maybe when I get the means to play those games in other systems I do not have, maybe... just maybe, I'll give it a shot. ;)
