We all know Square Enix does a good job at hiding secrets. And with little information on FNC'sless-recent titlesat TGS 2007 how do you feel about the franchise?
I'm not that excited at all, no.
for one, I don't even have a PS3, and it will probably be a long time till I do have one. And I also don't like the fact that there are multiple XIII's instead of just one. Now instead ofhaving all of my excitementand focus on one game, I have to focus on all it's versionsand consider what order I'll pick them up in and if I'll be able to afford them all.
[QUOTE="fs_metal"]Nope. Not excited. Bring on Lost Odyssey, White Knight Story and Folklore. I think they will all kick the crap out of FFXIIIcoldness6
Do you by any chance hate FF? you're always on FF's case,I don't know why...and FYI I think FFXIII is going to rock!
I love the hell out of FFI, IV, V, VI, IX, XII and Tactics. I like FFX and FFA. FFVII is ok. FFVIII just plain blows. I would rather play FFX-2 than that game. Atleast it was FUN.I'm an old schooler man. I have been playing FF since before VII
So it would seem :) ....But FF1? it had no story whatsoever! Oh,unless you mean FF3 which's the first FF ever released outside Japan...coldness6No story? What? That game had a major plot twist at the end and it was very in depth for 1987. Compare it to otehr games. from that time. Mario: save the princess. Zelda: save the princess. so on and so forth. Oh and FFIII wasn't released outside Japan until the Nintendo DS. FFI was the first FF to be released outside of Japan. One last thing. A good story is not required to make any game good. If the story happens to be good, it is a great bonus.
[QUOTE="johngebreadman"]i just wish i had the ps3 to play it on. also why is there a ff13 and an ff13 versus? is it just a way to scam people out of more money?coldness6
No,God NO! It's just another title in the FF13 compilation, that's all!
And I think my sig tells all ^_^
Your wrong. It is all about the money and has been since sakaguchi leftI'm not excited with the Fabula Nova Crystalis series. I'll die if I won't hear any Uematsu tracks in it coz based on the current info, specifically videos, it doesn't appeal to me like a Finla Fantasy. Well, we'll see... But, definitely, I'll get the games.Fantasy_Gamer
I think Uematsu would still make FFXIII soundtracks,at least the main theme or song!

Square Enix has other composers coming up if you want to call it that. The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII might've carry mixed reactions, but at least it was brought to gamers attention a few years after people got a chance to play the original. Now it seems that SE is really into polymorphic content. The whole FNC thing and mythos is interesting considering how each game takes place in it's own realm with a common mythos. But yes; partially it gives Square Enix a chance to cash in like the Compilation of FFVII, and the Ivalice Alliance.
I am personally looking forward to Lost Odyssey more after what I saw at TGS07(since I am a new Xbox 360 owner). White Knight Story also looks neat; not to sure on Folklore. I think Final Fantasy XIII can be a great game, but at the moment I still don't see it as a system seller. If Metal Gear Solid 4 doesn't sell PS3's then what will? That's how I look at it. But it's weird; Square Enix's most recent system seller is Crisis Core, Final Fantasy VII especially with the PSP bundle. And if it's the last system seller for a long time then that's pretty sad(even though the game is fun, don't get me wrong).

Totally agree. They really need to bring back Nobuo Uematsu.

I was definitely looking foward to liking the FFXII soundtrack. Not one of my personal favorites; I like the box it comes in. My problem was I bought the OST before the North American release just to see how it sounded. Oh, and I like the FFT OST better thent his one.

The fact that Uematsu wasn't the composer doesn't automatically makes it garbage. However, FF XII's OST would have been much, much better with him.

No it wouldn't have. There is nothing wrong with it. Sakimoto is a genuis. Just listen to frickin Vagrant Story./ FFXII's soundtrack is alot more comploex than Uematsu's stuff, which makes it harder to get it stuck in your head. People are dumb so the equate that with being bad[QUOTE="fs_metal"][QUOTE="coldness6"][QUOTE="NWA_31"][QUOTE="Fantasy_Gamer"]I'm not excited with the Fabula Nova Crystalis series. WAnna get technical? Ok. Lets. FFXII has a deeper soundtrack than anything Uematsu has done. There. Anyway, it is not so so. It is amazing. The FFT OST and the FFXII OST are both done by the sane man dude. Sakimoto. Look him up. HE is a genius. Every bit as good as Uematsu. HE is just different. Why should he be the same though?I've not heard Blue Dragon, but whoever composed for the Kingdom HEarts soundtrack sould never be allowed to compose again
Well, I suggest that you find them "worth accepting" soon, because I'm seriously starting to get tired of this. We understand that you have you own opinion and we don't argue with you whenever you say something that we don't agree, I expect you to do the same.
You don't have to agree with what everybody says, just stop telling people how wrong they are for having their own opinion.
yeah very exited about FFXIII!!! and the whole series... I really like the whole FFVII compilation thing, so this'll be interesting to see how they actually link them together (I have a feeling that there will be more than just common mythos.) but yeah on the whole arguement, Uematsu is the best composer in my oppinion, some of the FFXII soundtrack was pretty good I especially liked the Salikawood music... but on a whole there were a few rather naff ones on there, I mean they totally screwed the chocobo music... best track ever is the Black mages version of 'Force your way' I'm currently trying to learn that on guitar... Uematsu has allways been there and it's a real shame to see him not there anymore, but the same goes for Sakaguchi leaving, I guess we just have to move on and hope for some good games... oh and who said that a good story doesn't make a good game??!! 'cos although true, the Final Fantasy series is all about the advanced story, the first FF was amazing for it's time and is still fun to play. Sakaguchi himself said that he didn't think he could make a good action game, so he created the amazing stories instead! so far I've only found one FF I didn't like and that was X-2... it had it's qualities, but A> it ignored the prequel and B> the visual style was pretty naff, I mean Rikku has to put on extra clothes to go for a swim!?!?!?! that tells you theres something wrong... I prefered the FFX designs... anywho nice talking to ya'all!
FFVIII rules!!! love stories FTW!!!
People shoul atleast pick valid reasons for what they believe. The most common cited reason for not liking the FFXII soundtracfk is that it is different. That is not a reason. Different DOES NOT mean bad. Many people didn't ever even give it a real chance "Not Nomura? Screw that!" You obviously are not going to like it if you decide that ahead of time. It is this kind of ignorance that I have such a distaste for. It is this kind of ignorance that pisses me off and that I have no respect for., so pardon me if I like opinions to be thought out and well stated instead of oversimplified with bad so called reasoning behind it.Well, I suggest that you find them "worth accepting" soon, because I'm seriously starting to get tired of this. Well, I didn't judge the game's music beforehand, but it still wasn't of my preference. It wasn't awful and it was not crap, I just was not a fan of it, that's all.

I am a big fan of instrumentals inside and outside the gaming industry as well. I have more videogame soundtracks then I can count. I love the Vagrant Story OST and FFT OST; I am pretty sure I know the mastermind behind them. Yes, he has a different sound. Put I prefer his other work over Final Fantasy XII. The same goes with Nobuo works with Blue Dragon; I mean..what the hell. It wasn't all bad, but it's certainly could have been better(for both FFXII and BD). With videogames you normally listen to the music while playing. The sound influences the drama within each scenario. If you're really into the game it's easy to form a bond with the music. But. I bought the Final Fantasy XII OST a couple months before the US release knowing Sakimoto work. I listened to it, and I wasn't fully pleased.
Final Fantasy XIII?... pfft, not excited at all tbh, i got bored with 12 within a couple of hours, i would only get if i had a lot of money lurking around at the time of it coming out (and if i had a PS3)
while on the other hand, it they remade FFVII, i would buy a PS3 and that as soon as i could afford it.

Dude the scenario's of both of these games are extreemely light on drama, hence the lack of dramatic music, it just would't have fit. Both ost's focus on creating music appropriate for their game environments, and both largely succeed. On the other hand neither OST can match the impact of a Uematsu FF OSTs, BD's music is memorable but can become anoying, while ff xii's music is rather nice but not at all memorable. Also I think that Sakimoto's ff xii score fell well short of the benchmark he set with Vagrant Story, ultimately however ff xii's OST was the least of that games problems. I found the almost complete lack of consistent and coherent narrative to be a real sore point for me, which is why I'm more nervous about ff xiii's release then excited about it.......Bring on Lost Odyssey!!!!!
