So who likes the idea that our group of heroes aren't as large as in some previous Final Fantasy games?

me, It is probably becuase there will be better abilities and stuff for the now limited range of characters, and you will have the chance to level them all up.

There's six. That's plenty for me. At least that way I don't have to worry about not using dozens of characters. I think my main party will be Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille.

I do, less leveling to do. I'd think that Snow and Lighting would be the easiest to play as and characters like Sazh and Vanille would be pretty weak (guns usually don't do a lot of damage and Vanille seems like more of a healer with Carbuncle and such, so)

Wow, unanimous hate for leveling. :o Am I the only one who actually enjoys it? I do like the idea that they're fewer than some of the previous games, mostly because this means they will probably be more developed. After playing FFXII, I need me some serious character development.

I think it's fun if there are more characters.I mean, the gameplay variety would be larger and stuff like that. In FF Tactics,I bought like dozens of different units (At least one or two Units per Job type ) and I grinded them till the max level :P FFVI also have a large variety of playable characters as well come to think of it.

I thought about putting 6 mandatory characters and 2 optional characters like it was with Yuffie and Vincent in FF7. This way, people who only want to enjoy the game and don't care much about the story can play with the 6 characters straight to the end, whereas people who want to experience everything that the game has, then they can get the other 2 to make them 8 characters total.

umm...I think there is four in a party, that is what I imagined your party would be, I personally would use

Lightning, Vanille and Hope.
