People complaining about the score. Some say it deserves a perfect 10. Now if i remember few months ago people saying how FFXII will be a terrible game, that it will be the worst in the series due to its changes. Now i see people saying how excellent the game is that it should have gotten a 10. Orasion_Seiz

I don't think it deserves a perfect 10(especially not on the PS2). But I am definitely enjoying what I have done so far. It plays a lot like a MMORPG from what I've seen, but it's crafted to still be a single player experience. You still have to deal with aggressive and non-aggressive enemies, the combat system, character customization is a little bit more in-depth, and from what I've seen the scale of the game is large. And it appears the leveling is going to be more important then any of the previous Final Fantasy games besides Final Fantasy XI. From what I've seen it has a lot of traits from this new era of roleplaying games and I like that.
But since it mimics a click-base system, there are some flaws. The camera control is exactly like Final Fantasy XI on the Playstation 2 which I hated, and what makes it even worse is that if you're not use to non-iverse camera controls then you might have a few troubles. Most games of this type including both offline RPGs(like KOTOR) and MMORPGs grant more access to the camera. The ability to configure this is not even an option along with not being able to configure the gamepad's input(I can't find any). And the mini-map needs to be a little bit more accessible. But compared to the whole picture, these flaws are minor. To bad there wasn't keyboard and mouse support; I strongly believe this deserves to be on the PC then it does on the PS2. yet, 9.0 is a good score and FFXI is worthy of it!
Oh yeah. And haven't you know that some of the character's animation during actual gameplaying(like running) is from Final Fantasy XI. Even some of the sounds are as well(the clanking of plate boots). One thing I notice is the way Vaan stands. That's the same exact posture of a Male Humes in Final Fantasy XI.
im about 7 hours in and im sorry to say im not really hooked yet , in the way i expect a final fantasy game to draw me in. i dont like the license board. they say you can go in any direction you want and build the character how you see fit and that is ok in theory but in practice it does not work because you need to get the weapons and magic seperately so you only ever buy licenses for what the shops make available so going in your own direction on the board is pointless. i also dont like the fact that everyone learns the same stuff and anyone can use any weapon, i preffered the previous titles when you had your melee characters like tidus, squall and the ones with ranged weapons like irvine and wakka, it helped establish the characters identities more
holy crap Ive lost track of time this game is outJumbo120788Tell me about it, and the PS3 and Wii launches are in a few weeks as well, it's insane. :|

There are some very logical reasons to give a game a 10. A 10 means that the game was made as well as it could of been made given the current technology. Few games achive this but the games that do deserve it in most cases. A 10 doesn't necessiarly mean that no game can ever be better than that game but it means that the game was made as well as it could of been made.

I think 9 is a great score... But I don't know why so many games are getting 10's... 10 is perfect with no problems... and no matter what there will always be room for improvement. Anyway... compared to games that are coming out for Next Gen Systems like the Xbox 360... Final Fantasy did very good to get a 9...
Anyway... Its just some ones opinion and if you don't like it you don't have to read it or lison to it. You could just play the game and be happy that you are playing the game.

Given the increase in technology there is always room for improvement such as a game like pac man or something that came out like 20 years ago could get a 10 out of 10 but then mario64 comes out in the late 90's and gets a 10. Now most people will agree that Mario64 is better than pac man but I can see where both games would deserve a 10 out of 10. If a game came out today and got a 10/10 and another game comes out 20 years down the road and gets a 10/10 then the game that comes out 20 years down the road will most likely be the better game due to technology, just because a game gets a 10/10 doesn't mean it cannot be surpassed by technology in the future. There is no higher rating than 10 but you have to have a cut off point it would be pointless to rate games out of 1000 or 10,000. In other words it is possible to create a game just as well as you made the game in the past but now with the future technology you should be able to make a much better game. There will always be better things in the future but when something is perfect in a certain period of time then you should be able to give it a 10/10.Â
I guess what you are trying to say is no game should ever get a 10 but games like RE4, and Zelda should get a 10 though.Â
The Good: Inspired art direction and a strong cast of characters draw you into the world; lengthy quest spans dozens of hours of gameplay; redesigned strategic combat system offers considerable depth and complexity; all battles are fought in context while exploring, so no random encounters; excellent music and voice acting. Kefkamania05
Strong cast of characters? I think they are well-developed, but whenver I see those cool Bangaas, I want to die in frustration that Square did not make a playable Bangaa character to include in your party! GRRRR!
As for the voice acting, everything's all right except for Larsa and Balthier's voices, which are demotions from their *** counterpart.
The Bad: The gambit and license-board systems are complicated to get used to; a bit too much running around back and forth in some spots.Kefkamania05
The gambit, especially the license board is never complicated. I don't know what's complicated with it. For the gambit, all you need is the gambit itslef, a good number of slots and now how to prioritize your actions.
As for the license board, it is super simple. North Board: The upper panels are for magic. The lower right are for techniques and the lower left are for th eimprovement of the performance of your characters. South Board: Weapons and armors. Armors are at the upper right. The weapons are scattered in the res tof the board and almost all weapons of the same kind are near each other.
by looking at the player reviews so far, most of them are scoring the game between 9.4 - 10 which is just normal for fanboys.
Amen. I have yet to get my hands on the game, but when I give my review, I'm going to be very critical of it, to see if it lives up the the hype.by looking at the player reviews so far, most of them are scoring the game between 9.4 - 10 which is just normal for fanboys.
