Is anyone actually excited about FFXIII?

I'll admit that I'm less excited about FFXIII than I was when I saw the first video in 2006. (If I remember correctly, FFXII hadn't even come out yet in the States, let alone the PS3, so I knew I was in for a real wait.) Also, I've never been able to figure out why so many fans hate XII--or IX for that matter--and while it wasn't my favorite FF, it certainly didn't sour me on the series. FFXII was simply different, but still very well made and highly replayable.

Regarding Sakaguchi, I'd polish the man's shoes with my hair in gratitude for inventing Final Fantasy, but I'm not convinced that he's a skilled contemporary developer. He hasn't been much more than an Exec. Producer (read: money man) for the last several main FF's, nor did Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey seem all that great compared to other JRPGs in the last year or two. Sakaguchi strikes me as being VERY good at old school RPGs, however Final Fantasy has survived has been because of its ability to adapt to new audiences and take some fairly daring gameplay risks.

All that to say, I'll buy FFXIII on day one. Heavens, yes. But SE has kept me waiting for so long that I've become a touch numb to the thrill of it all. Hopefully that will change the instant I boot up the game for the first time.

I was interested at first, but like some other people have said, we know next to nothing about it and they keep re showing the same trailer over and over and over again. The FF XIII trailer at Microsoft's press conference was the same trailer with maybe 30 seconds of new footage. WHAT THE HELL IS TAKING SO LONG SQUARE-ENIX??? Perhaps if you weren't making so many damn remakes and focused everyone on the main games again, if you would slow down or stop the Spin-Off-itis you've got. Maybe if you would have accepted Sony's countless attempts to help development, the game might have been out this holiday season! Exclusively for the PS3!!!

Just read a new interview with Kitase & Hashimoto in which they seemed to emphasize that their biggest influence on FFXIII is FFX. As X, in my opinion, had the most developed story--which ended in a surprising way, yet made perfect logical sense!!--I am suddenly a LOT more excited about XIII again. (Raises fists to the sky) Damn you, Square! Every time I get over thinking about the next FF, you reel me back in!

I don't find myself thinking about the game a lot, but when I do watch the trailer at E3 of 08 I get excited.

Well, I can say this: I'm more excited now that it's multiplat than when it was a PS3 exclusive. Only because I didn't wanna drop that much money for a few games that I might not like. But, it's true that I was more excited about the release of FFVII-XII than this one.

Pretty much exactly what I was gonna say :) I wasn't excited till i found out i was able to play it :)

i was looking forward to it more before. but like what most people say they havnt really released much more from before. and since they said it is on xbox now im just even less into the game. i wanted the ps3 exclusive just to see what the Ps3 can really do. square enix loves using the systems to there fullest and i just wanted to see what they could pull off. now that its on the xbox its more of what the xbox can accomplish and then its just ported to ps3. final fantasy 12 wasnt as good as i thought it was gonna be but it wasnt that big of a letdown. it was different from the rest. thats something about final fantasy there not really the same they are all different. i personally didnt think 12 was that bad but some of u may dissagree thats alright just sayin. im prob still gonna buy a ps3 and buy final fantasy 13 but im just not as hyped as i was a couple of years ago thats all.Jmah1337

well seeing as its being ported from the ps3 to the 360 it should still look better on the ps3 anyway. well games that are ported generally look better on their original console in my experiance.

I'm so excited about Final Fantasy XIII, judging from what i've seen and read about this game, it's going to epic. I can understand why some people aren't excited for this, but I hope when it's released, and you get to play it, you will enjoy it. I'm sure you will.

"Few" being the keyword there. I agree I wouldn't want to buy a PS3 either with its current game lineup. They do have some potentially great games coming though. As far as FF13 and being excited eh.. I have a love/hate relationship with the FFs unlike most here so for me I treat it like any other game. That is until I can get my hands on it. I've hated about half the series and loved the other half and it always surprises me which end up being which. Just goes to show you can't judge a book by its prerendered cutscenes.

i'm not sexist, but i don't think it's right for a guy like me to play a girl. i would go for versus xiii or agito xiii.jstrife

Really ? I think it's rather refreshing. We haven't had a female protagonist since FF6, and that was the only one until now.

Besides, it's not like you never control them. There are female characters in pretty much every FF.

Well, the last GOOD Final fantasy game to have a female protagonist is VI. :P

anyway, I don't mind controlling female chaarcters, or them being main characters.

Im excited about FFXIII, im anxious to see how the new battle system will work, from what ive read and seen its gonna be alot of fun. FFXII battles' bored the hell outta me :|

oh and Lightning sounds like shes gonna be a interesting main character.

I'm excited and I have been ever since they announced it would be coming to 360! I wasn't going to pay £300 for a PS3 to get the ONE game I wanted that wasn't coming out on the 360 but now it is :D

LMAO..... it's not that bad really - the story and gameplay were good, but i know the voice acting was uber cheesy :lol:
