What do you prefer...

1. One that do no damage but inflicts negative status (like FFT's Beouwulf); or

2. One that deals specific elemental attacks (like FFV's Sorcerer cjob and FFIX's  Steiner).

I prefer the first one.

Number 2. There's no point in a sword if it doesn't do damage.

I like both so it really depends on the enemy your facing. I for one don’t want to end up with a sword that doesn’t do damage when in a boss fight with something that is immune to everything.

I agree with RedNexus that it depends on the situation.

Of course it all depends on the situation, but in general, which one do you prefer? Like for example, Overall, ability to cause negative stasts to enemies is one of the key in easily beating Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

Well if I had to choose I’d say the negative stats because if your lucky it'll total incapacitate the enemy where as an elemental attack would only do more damage

Number 2.

Only selected bosses give me problems, and those problematic bosses usually (or always) doesn't get affected by status inflictions.

I guess #2 because the enemies #1 would be useful against can usually be killed just as fast using #2. At least if your strong enough.
