Main character weapon question...

Are you open to have a main FF character that uses no weapon, except his fist/hands, or you want to stick with sword-wielding heroes?

Well, my point is, since I started with RPGs, I can't remember any main character who is not using a sword, or any weapon for that matter. Maybe it would be great to try a martial artist o a brawler as main character.Fantasy_Gamer

Techincally Vaan from XII doesn't start with any weapons he is just a thief, I mean sure he gets a sword for his first hunt but the growth system allows him to use pretty much anything, in fact the strongest weapon in the game is a spear.

Swords are definitely way overused, but I'd personally like to see a mage main character.NWA_31

nah gunslinger like Vincent(but in a good game not DoC crap) or Balthier.

I wouldn't mind if they didn't use a weapon. I've noticed monks can cause some serious damage.siberian142

concerning asians. to my thinking they are look like westerners but with a hint of Asian (partically japanese) in them.

Conserning Assassins, damn... its been too long, was Amarant from FFIX the last playable Assassin? i cant remember whether he was an assassin or just a thug. (i wouldnt know if there was an assassin in XII, i didnt play it long enough)

I don't care if FF characters cast spells with the aid of a magical cat (Lulu & Cait Sith) or eat their enemies with a fork and knife (Quina) as long as Square provides an absurdly complicated 13-hour sidequest to obtain the most powerful magical cat or the shiniest fork and knife. Think I'm kidding? My level 94 Ashe is currently fighting Yiazmat with the Tournesol.:roll: Still, it might be fun to have an FF character that didn't suffer from sword envy, if you catch my drift. As long as the game itself is fun and interesting.
