We all know that Square has a 20-year plan for Final Fantasy VII, with the first 10 years already passed. This means that FFVII is not out of the hill yet. 10 more years is a long time and we can hope to see more FFVII games in the future (although not necessarily in the next couple of years).

So, what may we expect?

Well, here's a short list of what's in my mind now:

- The Shinra-Wutai Wars
- The War of the Gi
- The Cetras
- Final Fantasy VII Remake (as long as Square does not dispose of the idea, there will always be the chance. Who knows, they might just surprise us one of these months. :P)

So, what do you think?

It would be hard for me to imagine there not being a VII remake at some point.  I think most FFVII fans would really like to see that.  (please tell me if I'm wrong)

Personally, I know those who are against the remake also want  to see it and will definitely get the game if they have a PS3... But they are just not prepared for it now. Most of them will claim "make a new game rather than make what has been made already."

( this may spoil your game dont read (((((caution)))))) I hope everything gets ported to the wii cause i can't afford 600 or 500 dollars and it dosent seem worth it for just a few games, also remakes are awesome because most of the time they feel like new stories based on the look and also the fact that game designers never want to just give u the same thing they are gonna add something wierd like zack is still alive or aerith is not really dead (sephiroth stabbed her holographic image)maybe even adding additional characters that are also clones of sephiroth cause they just can't make it over they have to add something. like the game RYGAR or sonic adventure which is the first 3 sonic games in 1 ( start the game as sonic alone (sonic 1) then tails (sonic 2) then knuckles turns on you(sonic 3) )

The cow makes them money. Why would they stop? It's all business.

They're going to keep milking the cow as long as people are buying the milk.  If you don't like the flavor don't buy the milk, thats the strongest way that you can realistically get them to stop.

Honestly, as long as they're working on other projects too, I think that people have little or no grounds to complain except that they feel some obligation to buy the games and are thus worried about their wallet.  Besides that I can see no reason to complain about continuation of the series. (Especially since Advent Children was awesome and Dirge of Cerberus, while a mediocre game, offered some interesting characters (Like G) and storyline bits).

Really, just based on some fanfics I've helped with and read I'd really like a sort of 20 years down the road sequel type thing with, maybe, the children of some of the characters.  Marlene would be all grown up, we could see the long term post-Meteor world, there's just a lot of possibilities.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is the only thing I'm really interested in. Maybe they could make something about the connection between VII and X. (Lifestream and such)

What exactly is the connection between 7 and 10?  I would love to see a 7 remake though there are many other things that could be done within the franchise.  I think Fantasy_Gamer's quote hit the nail on the head "make a new game rather than make what has been made already."  Furthermore, I don't see what's wrong with "milking the cow" as long as it makes the fans happy and keeps the business alive and well.

Although I respect your wish, I doubt Square will grant it. FFVII is just so attractive for the fans and for their bussiness. They cannot just let the opportunity to pass them.

Haha. I think a lot of people dwell on the ideas between Final Fantasy VII and X too much. They're references; much like the Cloud reference in the tavern in Final Fantasy IX.

But, yes I would really like to see Sephiroth's days as being the hero during the Wutai-War. I think such events would pretty much clear up what actually happened with the creation of Midgar and the sudden changes within the Shin-Ra Electric Power Company involving the Jenova Project. I also like to see what's going on with Marlene and even Denzel in the future.

That Wutai Wars sounded good. It should be made for the DS in my opinion. Like a Strategy RPG thing. Like FFTA and it's Clan Wars.

I agree.  I think they should make a remake and go out with a bang, end of FF7 games.  While those topics sound interesting enough (Shinra-Wutai War, War of the Gi, etc.), I can't see an entire game about them.  Once they pump out Crisis Core and get Before Crisis released outside of Japan (assuming our phone technologies ever catch up...), then they should conclude the Compilation Project with the remake.

It's so hard to come by FFVII right now. I wish they'd just remake it on the PS2 or ps3, without changing absolutely anything, but the graphics

The relation I found is the following:
In FF X-2, shinra makes a comment of using the fayries(dont remember the name) as energy in the future. As we know, when someone died, it returned to them, and they were the life of the planet. So they worked in the same way as the life stream, you die, and go there. And you can also use it as energy. Then there are the spheres, maybe spheres, as seen in FF X-2 can be materia too, thus they gave the girls those abilities. They stop being only memories.

If you want another relation, in FF VIII, there is the Centra continent once inhabited by the centras(similar to cetra/ancients) that was wiped out of the earth. This may mean that someone, in the same fashion as Jenova, came to the earth of FF VIII. It can also be that that event started the Sorcerers

I think the only connection between FFX and FFVII in relation to what has been discussed are things which could be commonly attributed to any Final Fantasy game:  Crystals are a source of power, and these crystals seem to have a sort of ancient wisdom locked inside them (Whether from ancient spirits or whatever).  We see it in FFIV, FFVII(Materia), the original FF1 (where the crystals are an ancient magic which keeps the world in balance), FFVIII (The GFs, while perhaps not crystals, convey the idea of using ancient power similar to the migicite and espers of VI), VI (Magicite and Espers), X (Aeons, the spirits of the Fayth), X-2 (The Dress Spheres), and FFXII is FULL of this idea.  Square changes how the crystals function exactly each time, but there is pretty much always some reference to crystals and spirits somehow interacting with them (Perhaps even more the idea of continuing spirits giving power).
