Opinion on FFXIII-2

I'm pretty sure you and FG aren't in the same area though. When do you get it FG? I would have thought that your area would get it around the same time as the Japanese release?

I live in Pennsylvania, the reason why I brought that up though was that FG lives somewhere in the Asian South Pacific. Not trying to sound politically incorrect or anything but I DON'T 100% remember where you live FG but I know I'm in the right area;)

I can't wait to play XIII-2 already! I picked up my preorder before my classes started today but then I have been stuck in those classes and it'll still be atleast another hour and a half till I can play. Plus I have another 3 hour class tonight but I should be able to fit in a good 5-8 hours of gameplay today, probably won't be on again or much later today;)

Many of us have played the demo. There is a topic about it and our thoughts are posted there. I ordered my XIII-2 online and don't expect to get it right away sadly.cjimrun

And there it finally is...my FFXIII-2 package came in the mail today. That's the collector's edition with 4-disc ost, concept art book and "Episode I" novella.

i just beaten the game and all i have to say is i'm extremely disappointed with the ending (thank goodness this game is very non-linear, and has extra stuff to do after you beat the game, so i can get my mind off of the ending)

I'm renting it from redbox to test it out.

I got it yesterday but didn't play it at all. I had to work early today and wanted to wait for the weekend cuz I have it off.

@killerband55: I'm shocked that an FF game would have a disappointing ending, that's always one of the things I look forward to most. I'll see what I think when I get there, but I can tell there is a lot of extra stuff to do and I always like to take my time and do as much as possible so all that will most likely satisfy me regardless of what I think of the ending.

I'm currently in the middle of the final boss battles. I do already know what the ending is though and I have to say that I don't really mind it all that much and it is a bit of a departure for the Final Fantasy series but even if you don't know the ending the game basically starts to hint at the ending by the time you are half way through the game or so. This FF is shorter than the others by far, as I said I'm at the last boss fight and I'm only 18/19 hours into it.Lightning__Evil

I'm not surprised about the length at all. Square's free-roaming, multiple-ending games tend to be much shorter than their set-story games. FFX-2 and Chrono Trigger come to mind as clear examples and XIII-2 obviously draws from both of these titles.

maybe its not disappointing to all people, maybe you might like it, but i sure as hell didn't

I just spent 3 hrs in "New Bodhum" and have reached the demo portion. So far so good. It isn't as clean as XIII due to the open exploration...but there IS open exploration so that's a nice change. Predictably, it looks like Noel will by a physical beast while Serah handles magic duties.cjimrun

That is somewhat true. Noel has better Strength and Serah seems better with Magic. After fully upgrading all of their roles I can tell you right now that out of those two Noel has better abilities as far as Commando, Sentinel, Synergist, and Medic goes and Serah is better as a Ravanger or Saboteur. I was surprised to find out that Noel had better Medic skills than Serah. I'm not much help as far as monsters because I just kept Cait Sith, a pulsework knight I think, and one of the little gremlin bat things. I basically just used some of the first three monsters I got through the whole game.

Also, in response to your out of ideas question vega, I would say that they have a good amount of material to make a third. The ending of this one seems to have a lot of unanswered questions and the to be continued as previously stated so I think they can pull off another game. I also attributed the game's length as a means to try and emulate western style games or to have this game serve as a sort of bridge title to connect XIII and XIII-3. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

You could probably get a store to order the Collector's Edition for you, but I doubt many have it on the shelf. Also, the "Episode I" novella is only available through BestBuy.

As for your comments to Killerband, his remarks may be cheeky but he's doing it in a way that won't get him moderated or banned. The same cannot be said for you in this case.

I agree with your statement on squalls statement but I will add that although killers aren't in a manner that will get him banned they tend to be more towards the group as a whole where as squall's are more direct. Just pointing that out as a negative comment towards the group I personally find to be more of a problem, however there really isn't anything that can be done as there are no serious offenses as of yet.

I'm getting OT though so I'll get back to FFXIII-2. Hopefully you'll be able to find a copy of the collector's edition squall. The game is great albeit a bit shorter for the main story but the amount of exploration, the leveling system, combat, and the monster system are all welcome improvements over the last game and I highly recomend it:D
