Theres all these horrible little rumours flying around saying that the game is going to be around 40 discs long for the 360

http://blog-imgs-18-origin.fc2.com/h/a/t/hatimaki/ff13_dxpac.jpg

Ok, thsi picture is obviously fake, but some websites are starting to sound a little bit convincing, apparantly the demo is like 5 gigs worth of gameplay because of the High quality, and it is only an hour of gameplay. Please tell me how this is not going to be true because if it is... Square Enix needs to do some product research before they announce things at conferences

It's an exaggeration. Xbox 360 games use DVD-9s, which can each hold approximately 8.5GB. Even if the game was 50GB, 6 discs would be enough.

That's still a lot in my opinion, though. :?

Yeah, I doubt we'll ever see a game with multiple discs on PS3.

The mosts discs for a game ever were Final fantasy VIII and IX, both with four discs. I do not belive any other game has that many discs or more, though I could be wrong. :?

With the technology behind the PS3, I cannot really imagine 6 discs. >_>

I'm not sure if Xbox players will be much worried if the game was around 4 discs because it was already mentioned that FF did have 4 disks before, and I myself did experience FFs in 4 disks which wasn't an issue at least for me, but 6 seems a little too muich, still, as I posted in another topic already, the biggest problem comes is that if Square decides to cut out some of the contents they wanted to impliment in the game to ensure that the game quality of both versions match.

I'm not saying that one of them should have better quality than the other of course, what I'm saying is that they should design the game exactly the way they always wanted it to be while at the same time ensure that both systems have an equal level of quality and contents.

A question for those who want to get the Xbox version for FF13: Suppose there were certein content in the game that square wants to add but these contents can only be performed through PS3's engine, would u agree if they decide to release the Xbox version in 4-6 discs to let u experience these contents as well?

I think it all comes down to how much content is being cut. If it's just minor graphic details and lower quality audio, I wouldn't mind having less discs. If the changes are too significant, however, then I'd rather get 6 discs.

Yes. The demo is 5.5GB, but were assuming that what we see isn't compressed.

I find the 6 discs issue odd as many releases on both formats (ps3 and xbox 360) at the moment look and sound the same but both are on single discs!

If square-enix can get the most out of the 360, then they should be able to get everything on 2 discs at the most.

i don't care if there's multiple discs, but Microsoft better fix their packaging issue first.

If i get it with a bunch of paper sleeves jammed into the side, i'm gonna be GRRRRRRRRR!!!!

FF games have better and cleaner graphics as a standard than virtually every other game, and the CG/FMV scenes are longer and occur more often than in any other type of game, if you add the fact that FF games are frickin long if you go for 100%, then it would be no suprise to me it was 6 discs...putting it on any less discs would unfortunately mean compressing the data, meaning a loss in quality for Xbox users due to the processing power being less and loading screens where previously there would have been none...

Hehe. To a degree I don't think it matters. I have a PS3 as well, and I rather switch disk on MGS4 then having to load each chapter. I swear, if Final Fantasy XIII is like that, I won't go mad, but I'll be aggravated.

MGS4's chapter loading wasn't so long at least for me, around 3 mins for each chapter. Good enough to take some small walk around the house instead of sitting in the same place for such a long time. Is 3 mins so long to wait? :P

no, it's a joke.... you can tell the logo on top is stretched (bad photoshop work) and also, Microsoft wouldn't give us a case for each individual disc; they'd send us a paper bag with a bunch of discs in paper sleeves and the box art tossed in there all together

No, 3 minutes isn't a long time to wait at all. From a society's point of view, yes it is. But you would have to admit that switching disk is much easier to "continue" a game then having to wait 3 minutes per chapter. I'm still confuse as to why MGS4 needs a installation after each chapter with Blu-Ray. But the games fun nonetheless.

Yeah, it can get annoying. It's fine as long as you play linearly, but if you load a file from another chapter, you'll have to do the install again.

40 discs I'd be playing that game until I was eighty still 6 would make a long game too Lost Odyssey was only 4 and I put 70+ hours into it already and I've yet to fully beat it.

if we did a little math: 1 hour demo is around 5 giga so a blu-ray disk can handle only 10 hours but i am sure that the game is longer than that so i dont know how will they solve this problem....in the end we all ff lovers MUST admit that even if the game is 40 disk we will buy it so plz god have mercy on us and on our pocket :)

I agree, of SE going to release the game as the same as the Demo, then its going to be at least 4-6 Discs (on 360)
accourding to an old news i've heard before the story is huge which its a Novel i forgot its name but anyway, it might be 2 Blu-Ray too, who knows? but certianly its not going to be less than 4 Discs on the 360 for sure!

take Lost Odyssey as example, the graphics there was ultimate but not comparing with FFXIII not to mention the effections like the summoning entrance, attack boosts, CG scences, the battle system which its so bigger than lost odyssey and finally the story. Do you think SE will sacrifice with their best game to be released in little-low-quality to make the many discs issue vanish, or release it with full-power and play "i'm blind" toward how many discs?

i guess i didn't have any problem playing Lost Odyssey on the 360, although i missed the "4 discs" way in the PS1 :p
