Whenever I play FFIV, I despise the parts where you will be forced to have Edward in your party. Come on! He is useless! In just 2-3 hits, he will be KOd or igf he is not KOd, all he will do is hide. He is a nightmare for me. I wonder why do you have to waste a space in your party for him.

LOL yes yes. I had forgtten about him (I wonder why...), but your right. He's horrible, and does you NO good at all. Sometimes I wonder....did he HAVE to be in my party...did he really HAVE to?!! lol

that tends to happen in every game though and yeah its terribly annoying to have to use characters that are...well....worthless

Edward was just alot more worthless than the worst characters in the other games >_< it's really annoying being forced to use him....

    Am I the only one who likes him? He was useless as a party member, but there was just something about his character that I just loved. He has a heart of gold, and really wants to help people, but he lacks the fighting ability to do so.The only thing he can really do is play the Lute.Nothing ever goes right for him, he loses his castle, his girl, and eventually ends up in a bed, so he can't even fight to redeem himself.
 
    Even though he can't really fight, he is there for the heroes in their time of need. He weakens the Dark Elf in one of my favorite FF scenes ever, and also helps the party when they are fighting Zeromus. Edward is one of my favorite characters because I feel I can relate to his situation.We can't all fight enemies head on, sometimes all it takes is a strong heart to win battles.

lol perhaps this should have been made a poll. Apperently there are some who do like him. (And I get your point Headbanger, but in your party , he's not that great.)

Edward is sick in FFIV if i remember thats why he is so weak in the game.

He's just a prince, who never really cared too much for fighting. He'd rather play the lute, and he's damn good too. Melody of Lute is my favorite FF song.

Again, if this thread is about characters party wise, Edward fails. But as a personality to a story, I can't help but like this character.

It's not half as bad as ViVi though. Poor ViVi, always getting bullied and picked on, it's impossible not to pity him at least a little bit.

Now I hate that P**** Edward as much as anyone, but I think the bard is a cool class. How about instead that *** Edward, we change the character to David Gilmour or Roger Waters (Pink Floyd rules).

Right back at ya. Tou know, if you listen carefully to some of the songs from ffVIII, they sound like some floyd stuff. Listen specifically to Is There Anybody Out There from the wall. Also the gareden them for balamb has a section similar to Learning to Fly.

No offense, but I don't need a heart of gold in battle. :P Ha, ha. Yeah, he has a nice personality, but I just can't tolerate his lameness in battle.

hence he sits there in your party and you never use him and then when your forced to hes all sorts of weak...i like the games that give a smaller amount of xp to your characters who aren't in battle too...thats a good plan....right now though i can't think of the games that do that....but i know some do!!

He's not worthless.  I found that his "Hide" ability very useful in tough battles because with him hidden, you can't get a game over.
