I just wanted to know what RPG's you guys like besides Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Here's mine:

1)Elder Scrolls Series(Xbox/PC/X360)-Great Open ended gameplay.

2)Baldurs Gate series/Neverwinter Nights(PC)-Baldurs gate is the epitome of wester rpgs and Neverwinter Nights followed it's footsteps.

3)Star Ocean(SNES)-I love the soundtrack on this, actually more than lots of Final Fantasy tracks. Plus, it's one of the most advanced SNES games ever made.

4)Chrono Trigger(SNES)-Best RPG ever made in my opinion. EA close second for me is DQVIII. Not to mention a soundtrack that gives Final Fantasyu a run for its money.

5)Shining Force(Genesis)-My favorite Tactics rpg before I played FFT.

6)KOTOR series(Xbox)-Amazing rpgs. Bioware always gets the job done.

I'm fairly new to the RPG genre, but here are my favorites so far:
1.   Sacred--Lady vampire who can turn into a wolf = awesome.  The only problem here was the terrible ending.
2.   Ocarina of Time--Please do not flame me for comparing Zelda to level-up RPGs
3.   KOTOR I (but definitely not KOTOR II, which blew like an industrial lawn mower)--felt more like a part of the Star Wars universe than the three prequel films.
4.   Dragon Quest VIII--terrific characters, good writing, and lots fun.

When I get back to the States (I'm spending a year abroad) and my PS2, I'm guessing Okami (again, a nontraditional RPG) will join in this list.

I'm into pretty much every Dragon Quest games and the Star Ocean series. Grandia (the first one) was AMAZING, that's a game I could play over and over.

Right now I'm playing Dragon Quest VIII for the 3rd time through (I just can't get enough of the amazing gameplay that it has), and I am also tracking (working title) Dragon Quest IX for the PS2. I am also playing Xenosaga III for the second time through and I am awaiting Valkyrie Profile 2 in the mail, should be here tomorrow.

I could sit here and list great RPGs all day. Elder Scrolls. Breath of Fire. The first Star Ocean. 7th Saga. Illusions of Gaia. Diablo. Temple of Elemental Evil. Baulders Gate. KOTOR. Megaman Legends (though it is debatably not an RPG). Dark Cloud. Ultima. Akalabeth. That's just a few

I'm actually in the middle of the first Star Ocean, great game, probably the most advanced SNES game ever made. About Dark Cloud, never played the first one, but the second one was horrible! So much lame dungeon crawling. Some places had like 20 floors, and it wasn't fun just running through mashing the square button. I hear the first was better though.

I really love the Suikodens, Lunars and Chronos. Also, Parasite Eve. Wild Arms 1 is the best in the series. Gotta love the GREAT and involving story of Saga Frontier II. Xenosaga is nice. Vagrant Story is superb.

I spent 80+ hours with Xenogears. I think it is a nice game, but I did not really enjoy the disc 2. It's more of an interactive story book. I got bored and I found myself rapidly pressing the buttons to bypass/fast forward the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG dialogues.

admittedly the first part of episode 2 was pretty tough but it is much more balanced after you leave the encephalon.

The battle system had its faults but it is not THAT bad. the system in the first one was pretty basic but it got better with each episode. And the cutscenes are not as bad as every 5 minutes. they are always grouped together so you may get three or four in a row but then have a big gameplay section to get through. i have never understood the problem with the cutscenes , they never bothered me. If you have not played at least episode 1 and 2 then you cannot comment on the story and in my opinion it rivals the story in Xenogears and i LOVE xenogears.

I didn't play Xenosaga just because I've seen that game before. It's the same reason why I didn't play Shadow Hearts, Dark Cloud, and a few other Japanese RPGs that almost everyone in FFE has played at least once. I think RPGs reached there peak with the SNES and the PSOne.

Then the PS2 came out and a lot of the RPGs that were created were made to only appeal to the gamer who enjoyed playing them, especially games that followed a Japanese protocol. A great RPG is made when it's considered to be outside of traditional; or when a company makes a roleplaying game(like Final Fantasy) which can compete with other games outside of its genre instead of remaining within its niche.

Then you have The Elder Scrolls, Gothic, Neverwinter Nights, Fable, and Knights of the Old Republic which are RPGs outside the comfort zone. I just think they're better RPGs..like everyone else. What I mean is a RPG is great when it's created for the masses. I think Final Fantasy XII  has enough for the hardcore RPGer but I think it's going to appeal to a different audience at the sametime.

I've been playing it since it hit the shelves, I managed to do all the quests, including sidequests and bonus content. I think I don't play at much as I used to, since it got boring after 120 hours :D. My first character was a level 37 woodelf assassin which I trained as a marksman.I think I used that armor you get from the vampire add-on. Another character was a custom character I called "Necromancer". I played it on the hardest difficulty so in order to survive, especially at the beginning I relied heavily on conjuration. It's pretty hard to be pathetic at Oblivion unless you play it on an easy difficulty, where nothing can even scrath you. I've always wondered how fun it would be to take my assassin against another player though, he's as fast as a horse and leaps really bloody high:D. It would be difficult for a bulky warrior to catch me if I kite them.

I'm a Turbine fan but I still believe Asheron's Call is there only great MMORPG. I currently play World of Warcraft, thought not as much as I use to before. I know both DnD and MMORPG fans were kind of disappointed but almost like any of Turbine's games there is always a cult following. But, I started with Asheron's Call in January of 2000 and played to 2003.
