well since my collection is limited im giving it to FF VIII

the gameplay was smooth, the cutscenes were breath-taking for the PS1, i admit the junction system was a little bit tricky/complicated/awkward to get around, but once you got the hang of it you had 55% of the battle already, the story was fantastic, i liked every characters different personality, everything about it made this game very strong in the series, just a shame that you couldnt do the story again with all the aqquired items/weapons/GF's.

Whats your choice??

hmm i usually dont like saying FFX in these sort of things, but in this case i think im going to have too.

For me, it had a great battle system, the sphere grid was sweet, the aeons were also very good (Anima was sweet, bahumat looked a little crap, (looked too tame for my liking)). I would usually vote for FFIX in these types of posts, but they are so close to being my best FF game, that i sometimes switch them.

FFIX. It had a fantastic cast, an excellent story, a great battle system, and I really liked the ability system. I also enjoyed Chocobo Hot & Cold more than any other FF mini-game.

For me it' a close call between VII and X. Maybe there's a slight advantage for X, I guess because it was my first FF game. It has a great storyline, memorable characters and an excellent battle system. I actually didn't bother that most of the game was a bit linear, the pros made up for it completely and I totally LOVE the world of Spira. The ending even squeezed out a tear or two (or maybe three ;) ) out of me.

EDIT: But Blitzball sucked. :P

For me it's FFVI. It was epic in every possible way. A great story with memorable characters, excellent soundtrack, etc.

(I also liked FFIX a lot).

FF VII, best music(main theme), best story, best battle system (materia: easy and simple), best characters(vincent, cloud, tifa, the turks, sephy etc), best minigames(golden saucer)....

FFVI, for story and characters. It would seem as if no other character was like another, each one was original in their own way.

X. :)

Story was original. Loved the name 'Sin', VERY fitting. I think the inclusion of religion and persecution of a misunderstood people was incredibly written. Loved the fact that there was a small difference between the different peoples (Al Bhed, Guado etc.) Last FF to include the 'classic' cactuar, before it got cuter, and uglier too :). Characters were lovable and compelling. Being able to switch out your characters during battle, SMAAAAAAART and actually makes sense, none of this (Oh I'm Tifa but I'm not in the active party, oh, it seems Cloud, Cid, and Cait Sitch have died. Game over, but at least I'm still alive! still can't do anything though..) Course it wasn't AS well planned out as XII, it was a start : ).

I could go on and on but I won't. :)

VI is the one! :P

It had a HUGE cast (biggest yet on any FF of the main series) and all with very different personalities and interesting background stories.  It has one of the best soundtracks on any game ever (IMO although many agree), the battles were fun, the characters were very customizable while at the same time were unique because of their different skills.  The story was amazing (the end of the world actually took place!).  And last but not least:  Kefka :D

IX imo, it not only has a colorful and memorable cast(though that is not new to the FF franchise) but its all about blending the nostalgic features of previous FF titles with the modern(for that time) features of more recent games in the franchise, also its probably one of (if not) the best looking JRPG on the PS1.
