thats kinda hard, a game without a good story sucks, but a game without a full customizable system sucks too...
but, no matter how good a battle system is it fades off without an awesome story (just look at FFXII)

That's a nice question. When playing any FF game, I'm more interested in the story rather than the gameplay. U can sometimes even forgive the battle system if it lacks a few aspects here and there, but as it was already mentioned. If the battle system is broken, people won't enjoy progressing through the game even if they want to understand the game's story further.
The game needs to have a powerful story in order to give a reason for the player to keep playing until the end. At least for a Final Fantasy game :P
This kind of question reminds me about FF8. I really liked the game and story but the draw system killed that game from being a truly phenomenal game, and the fact you could beat the game at like level 20 if you wanted to. But that is just me.SchumiF1
Im not so hatefull towards the Junction system, in fact, take that "small" counter you need to do some massive draw work to get powerfull magic, or any other magic actually and I kinda liked it.
For example, I found IX's Trance system to be the most stupid invention ever, almost every Trance that happened in my first run through the game occured just before the end of a battle... and that is beyond anoying.

Ya I did that, but it got old incredibly fast. Magic is exactly that magic, it shouldn't be used like an item that needs to be drawn from enemies to use.
I guess Squaresoft was looking for something new and different (can't blame them for trying something new and different) but give me MP rather than "item" magics. Maybe it wouldn't been as bad if you could grind out levels doing it, but that is moot because the enemies level with you.
Looking at the poll, I think using FFIV and FFIII was a bad example... :?
Final Fantasy IV had both a great story and phenomenal gameplay. Of course everybody would vote that. :P

FFIV is better than FFIII but i think FFIV battle system wasn't that great either. I didn't like how you have to wait a for a magic spell to charge up in the active time bar to use that certain spell in the next turn. Sometimes it takes forever for active time bar to charge during certain spells like Meteor and Flare.
I thnk this only happens in the FFIV DS version and i don't know if this happens in the GBA version
I don't find the gameplay so phenomenal. I keep dying! :xbillybobbarvis
What does your skills have to do with the gameplay being good ? :?
And X-2 has spoiled you with its easyness. Man up and keep playing FFIV. :x Now, that's a real game.

It should have been FFIV against FFV. Â It'd be alot tougher for me, then, considering both games are very close in greatness, IMO.Â
It would be more interesting for me, anyway...Â

Very funny.:P I was kidding, y'know. Although I was very impressed. The opening FMV was really pretty.

..actually, FFV's story is actually almost as good as FFIV's...sorta.
Meh, it'd still be a little difficult for me to chose between the two, though. Â While I like FFV in more aspects than FFIV, FFIV is also a classic, and has a sort of 'charm" to it, that FFV cannot match.Â
I liked them both and I played both of them on the DS one after the other. Even though III was pretty interesting (not to mention funny) IV blew my pants away when I started playing it. Still haven't figured out how to get to the bottom of the last dungeon though.twilightlullabyI am so tempted to make a dirty joke here. So very very tempted. I think I will maintain my gentlemanlyness, however, and bite my tongue
What is it with you guys and your dirty minds? :x I was just very impressed...why is it that everything I say is used against me? :lol:twilightlullabyI would like to point out that I did not used it atainst you. Instead I bite my tongue and was nice, but it is the phrase "blew my pants away" that brings dirty thoughts to mind, especially when posted by a woman.
