I do like Final Fantasy VIII a lot. The more I replay it, the better it gets for me. However, I have some complaints like:
-the story goes downhill once you hit the 3rd disk.
-outside of Squall and Rinoa, the characters aren't very developed or interesting(except maybe Laguna).
-the draw system can beannoying, but that gets on my nerves less as you progress throughout the game more(and the reason I always draw is because I hate the card game. Stupid stupid stupid).
-the junction system turns everyone into clones of each other.
Overall, the game is a solid 9 for me, 9.5 if I'm feeling generous. The game does offer hours and hours of content and some pretty good replay value.
Â
-The Junction System allows for endless customization options, thus, allowing FF8 to live up with the word "Role-Playing Game"... You can make the characters you want to take the job you want them to take.
-Eyes on Me
-Love story
-Cactuar as summon XD
-Triple Triad.Â
a little off topic with windows 7 (sorry stuie :P ), windows 7 has something called XP Mode, that as you well said, emulates WinXP, the problem is that this will be only available to the Professional and Ultimate versions of Win7... so, well, that's all :)Poltergeist86
Windows XP mode is a virtual machine set up to use Windows XP. This means you are essentially running a program which is pretending to be a computer and then installing Windows XP on that "computer" (I could post a screenshot of that if you don't understand). Because the virtual machine is sharing the resources with the processor, it is pretty inefficient and I would never try to play games on it (though FF8 is probably old enough that it won't matter). I have also had problems running fullscreen games on it as the resolution of the machine is controlled by the window size in Win7 - the game (think it was Fallout) tries to change the resolution and can't so it crashes.
However, once you have installed a program on the virtual machine you can run it in Windows 7 without needing the virtual machine running. I do not know how well this works with games as I have never tried it but Windows XP Mozilla Firefox seemed speedy enough on Windows 7...
In conclusion...FF8 might work on Windows 7. I don't have my copy to test with me.
i love final fantasy 8 as it was the first final fantasy i played around my friends house about 6 years ago its amazing the characters and cool and the graphics for the time where really good. lets discuss :)stuie16
Final Fantasy 8 was the first FF I've played and it got me into the series.
Never played it sadly :( but i might buy the psone version to play on my ps3, although i hear psone games look really bad on the ps3, with the exeption of psn releases of the psone classicsChester_Diamond
they don't look THAT bad but if you have a PSP, playing it there helps a lotÂ
i honestly dont see what people see in the game...1. story was rubbish, a bit like lost, no idea where they were goin wiv it...2. almost no character development...3. the battle system was too repetetive and horrible to look at...4. the standard(nt CGI)graphics gave me a headache, whatever tv i played it on...5. Draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw....6. squall was a ponce...7. seifer shuda bin the hero...the list goes on but il leave it at tht...for now...A_Fading_Scream
if you don't like it that's fine, I myself don't love all final fantasies but don't you think you were a bit TOO harsh on your opinion?Â

It's on the Japanese PSN store, but if you can't read Japanese, this comment is useless.
