Edward was definitely the least useful. He played a bigger part once he was out of the party than when he was in it!
I actually liked Kimari. He was a blank slate that you could take anywhere on the sphere grid and make him how you like him. Did he play a huge part in the story? Not really. He did play his part, but it wasn't as major of a part as everyone else.
Penelo, if she didn't exist in FFXII, the story would have been the same thing (except the part when you must rescue her at the beginning of course...). game-play wise, she is another chaarcter you can use, so she is really only pointless to the story.
Edward, for anyone that has played IV, you already know the reasons. Though story-wise, he did save Cecil and co. from the elf guy at the magnetic cave. Edward is completely worthless game-play wise (though I hear he will be better in FFIV DS)
And yeah, I never bothered much with Kimahri. Tidus, Auron, and wakka were better physical fighters than him, and Yuna and Lulu far excel him at magic. Rikku wasn't much better, but at least she had a somewhat good overdrive, Kimarhi's overdrives weren't particurly amazing or great from what I remember.
Edward. One time I spent probably 4 opr 5 hours just leveling him so that he wouldn't die every other turn. It turns out that you can gain 10 levels or more on him and he still does crap for damagevornwrath
 SO TRUE!!! And not to mention, he still easily dies even if he has already gained more HP. :P

Yeah, and his item split ability is pretty much useless. Woohoo! we all recover 5 HP.

Yeah. I know. Traveling with Edward is like sticking your hand on a burning skillet. It is still doing damage to you long after the pain stops[QUOTE="Fantasy_Gamer"][QUOTE="vornwrath"]Edward. Mofo plays a harp. A HARP! Who the hell carries a harp into battle. "Hey Leonidas! The Persains are here! Grab my harp! Tonight we ride!" I thought about using the analogy that it is like bringing a knife to a gun fight, but even someone that stupid is smarter than Edward. Atleast a knife can actually do damage. What are you going to do with a harp. "Let me soothe your anger by playing you a beautiful song. There is no need to fight" or "RAWR! I lash you to death with my deadly...harp...strings...."[QUOTE="DJ-Lafleur"][QUOTE="Fantasy_Gamer"][QUOTE="vornwrath"]Edward. his limit break is actually powerful is lucky. :P
oh and he's in a cat figure, just riding a fat moogle. :D
Penelo hands down and for all those kimahri haters; i dont understand, ive used him every time i played and hes way better then lame-o wakka, oom lulu, rikku the weak and his ultimate weapon is like the second easiest to get which is handy if your lazy.
Give Kimahri a chance!! hes not worthless
Kimahri wasn't TOTALLY useless, but Lulu was by far WAYYYYY better... i had her spells and magic levelled up so high she was doing almost as much (sometimes MORE) damage than Auron.. who was my strongest.
I will agree with you that, while i liked Rikku's character, she was a tad useless, except with mech enemies, then she rocked the casbah... and also i had her steal some neat-o items from bosses ^__^Â
