they probably think it isnt nessescarry but i agree that its cool.
racists may be offended if a black person is put as a main character and black people could be offended too because they might think square is mocking them. they might be offended for calling them black instead of coloured.
because square-enix and the final fantasy series is still very influenced by japan and there is not a lot of black people in japan. japanese gamers would prob not respond to a black lead character . there is nothing racist about it they are just creating something their audience can relate to.
why doesnt square create like a new tribe in a game where the people are black. for example like the differences between people from Besaid, Guadosalam, and the Al-bhed. they all looked different and had unique characteristics.just do sumthin like that

first off I 100% agree with you, but this has been argued time and time again, I have no idea why they dont and it makes no sense to me, first i believe they need to get rid of having feminine male lead characters first (Tidus, Vaan) then maybe they can move into other races.....

true but i found that game full of to many stereotypes, and id hardly think that putting a stereotype in a FF game (since they market more proper) would help

We are not talking about the whole world being black, Just the lead character and maybe a few main characters.

Nicely said! And that's one of the difference between US & Japanese games. GTA: San Andreas tackled stereotypes and minorities. It's the most offensive but also among the best of US games because it's almost represents true life. Final Fantasy is just that; fantasy. As much as we would like to see cultural diversity in the FF series, it's a possibility it'll be reintroduce later on (we got Barret, didn't we?).
I think it just depends on the story. Maybe FFXII might have a black character, although I don't remember seeing on in FFTA.
in the end Square-enix is just trying to make money like every other company on earth. Their just sticking to a formula that they know sells and adjusting it slowly game by game so who knows.

Technically Square games races don't consist of color.They have races such as Al-Bhed.The majority of the characters don't even look white.I don't know wat they look like but it sure isn't white.
