No. I don't pay him much money, yet he loves to do Zanmato. I only pay him 1 gil per move, then increase it by 1 gil for the next future attacks. He even did a "free" Zanmato against that Iron Giant original creation (forgot the name) in the monster arena.
Yojimbo was one big disappointment for me. When I saw the summoning sequence I thought "Cool! A samurai aeon!" but when the game asked for gil input I sent him away.
He wasn't very good at first but then he started doing Zanmato for very small amounts of money, i wouldn't have been able to beat Dark Yojimbo without him
Same here I only payed him 1 gil. He really is not that strong so I used kind of as a sacrifice for strong opponents. Just summon him give him 1 gil and let him do his most powerful move a couple of times till he dies.
I just liked how they put him in at all even if he wasn't the strongest...I loved that he was an assasin who worked for money sort of like Cloud but ...not...anyways that is sad, 1Gil!!! I used to give him alot of money I thought it was the more you gave him the better the move he would do for you lol ...oh well silly me I guess :P

my Yojimbo dose seem to have a strange reluctence when it comes to using zamnato on dark ifrit I tried 20 or so times to make him do it but he just wouldn't.
Yo! It sux, got to pay him? and it really didnt deal that much damage, i dont really think its something outstanding at all, worst summon on the game. It looks good tough...
