Recently, I cheked the spell screen for Celes, and I noticed that she was in the middle of learning Ultima.  However, I did not have the Ragranok esper but I did have the sword.  What's up with that?

New add? I forgot but you can use Ultima with Gogo by using mimic (after someone else used ultima) ... read the FAQs, the answer may be already there

The Paladin Shield can also let you learn Ultima, but I think Ragnarok teaches you Flare, if I remember right. I haven't quite gotten that far. However, Terra learns Ultima automatically at a certain level... dunno if Celes does.

Oh, I see.....The instruction book says that some equipment will teach you magic. In this case, I found that it was the Paladin's Shield that taught me Ultima, not Ragranok.
