Why not FFI&II Dawn of Souls? It's even cheaper, it's 2 games in one, and what better way to start a series then with the first game? But yeah, FFIV is fine to start with. Personally, I think FFIV has the best story and FFV the best gameplay. I'm not a big fan of FFVI.SoulSlayer_Oh wow. I didn't even realize those were on the GBA. Should I get Dawn of Souls, 4, 5, or 6 to start?

I was thinking I would start with Dawn of Souls, but would it get me into the series and would I like it? And why did FFIII never come out for GBA. I know they remade it for DS but why didn't they come out with the original for GBA. Should I get that for my DS after Dawn of Souls?
Just keep in mind that if you get dawn of souls ff1 is good but ff2 is terrible.pumpkin_king12Aw. I watched the video review and it said 2 had the different level system. Is this the reason. Is the level system in 4-6 like it was in 1?

Should I get that for my DS after Dawn of Souls?I, II, and IV are enhanced ports of the WonderSwan Color versions that they did a few years ago (it was a system that only came out in Japan). V and VI were re-done for the GBA, but but little changes were necessary since they already looked good on the SNES (although the backgrounds in V are new). III's story is a little weird. It was going to be on the WonderSwan Color along with the remakes of I and II that they were making, but they ran into some snags because they basically pushed the NES to its limits, and they couldn't get it to work on another system without rebuilding the entire game from scratch. With I, II, and IV, at least they could port over number crunching algorithms and equations necessary to get the battle system working. So they put III on hold, and ported IV over instead. Fast forward a few years, when Square-Enix finally could make games for the GBA. Yoichi Wada had the idea that all of the pre-PS1 FF games should be playable on the same system, so they started with I and II, but when they got to III, they hit the same snags that they did with the WSC. So they decided to fully remake the game this time, but since the GBA teams were already hard at work porting I, II, IV, V, and VI with new content, they had another team remake the game for the DS, since no one outside of Japan had ever played the game before, and they wanted it to get special treatment as "the lost Final Fantasy." You could also say it was an apology to the fans, since there was supposed to be a portable version of it back in I think 2001, so if it was going to be delayed for 5 years, they'd better do it right. :P Interestingly, Wada's idea still came to fruition. All of the pre-PS1 FF games are still playable on the same system, but it's on the DS, rather than the GBA.

Not only will it start me with some of the better FF games, but it will allow time for FFVI to go down in price since it just came out.

Is this the reason. Is the level system in 4-6 like it was in 1? 2 was interesting(not really) in this respect. You level up your weapoms and armour. Your character gets leveled up once in a while. So it's important that you pick a single weapon for each of your characters and stick with it. [QUOTE=Bullet_Holes][QUOTE=Im just gonna go ahead and get IV, and move my way up from there. Sounds like a plan to me. BTW, go to square-enix's website and look this game up. I read that after you win the game, a 50 level dungeon becomes available.
Just keep in mind that if you get dawn of souls ff1 is good but ff2 is terrible.pumpkin_king12Final Fantasy: Two, was better in my opinon..
Get them all! But VI first._gorgon_Yeah i'm not that interested in spending that much money now. I'm going ahead and buyng a bunch great of GBA games that I missed now because of how cheap they are, and I don't like the idea of paying $35 for one.
Just keep in mind that if you get dawn of souls ff1 is good but ff2 is terrible.pumpkin_king12FF2 isnt terrible, i liked it. I admit the spell system kinda sucked but It was still fun.
Final Fantasy VI, seeing as how it is the easiest of the three, to a Final Fantasy noob.
Then start with the much harder (IMO), Final Fantasy IV.
Heres an idea.......
You should start with FF I&II, then work your way into FFIV, then slide on over to FFV, and follow that up with FFVI. Just a thought though.
If you forced me to pick just one of the GBA FF titles, it'd probably be V but only because its the one I didn't play to death as a kid (I've played the orginal 6+ times through, IV/VI were FF2/FF3 here for the SNES and I played the hell outta them already too).
