GBA SP Pearl colored ones that come in either pink or blue are the brighter, backlit SPs. Also, if you can find any, there are the Graphite (lighter black) SPs. The packages indicate that it has a brighter screen.
And yes, the Micro screen is much smaller than the SP's. If I'm not mistaken, it's a 2:3 ratio.
i have had both. i can tell you now ive gotten more use out of my micro recently. in fact, im playing it now. i usually slip it in my pocket and go... more often than my ds, in all honestly, which i dont think i take anywhere. even though the screen is smaller, its much brighter, and imo a lot better looking. text isnt unreadable either nor does it strain eyes.
im thinking about replaying both golden suns soon, as soon as i finish the game im playing now. it will be on the micro.
SP2 - brightest screen, front lit
Micro - slightly dimmer, front lit
SP - least bright, back lit
I prefer the micro because I can take Final Fantasy games anywhere. Only complaint is that dust gets under the screen too easily, and the faceplates scratch like a mofo.
If you plan on playing GB or GBC games at any point between now and the near future...I would suggest you get the SP. GB and GBC games are NOT compatible with the Micro. On the other hand, the Micro is so small that it is very easy to take around with you. Because of how small it is, it requires a little time to get used to the feel of playing a game on such a small device. Me personally, I dont think I would like to play games on that small screen for any extended period of time and playing FF games on it, you would be staring at that screen for a while.
really, the micro is better. its small screen really doesnt hinder the experience at all unless you have really bad eyesight or something.
the no gb/gbc support hardly matters. how many good gameboy games you'd still be playing right now anyways? hmm, the pokemons, the wario lands, tetris. what else? there hardly isnt anything on it that isnt already better and on the gba.
the micro really doesnt seem worth buying when you read about it, look at pictures and see it in videos. but if you actually saw it, youd' know that its a really good sytsem.
