I have both, and I must say that the GBA SP is a lot better.

Rechargable battery, built-in backlite, more portable, I don't really see anything wrong with the GBA SP.

That's my opinion as well. But there's bound to be someone out there who likes the original.

I have to say that I like the feel of the GBA better, because I find it fits better in my hands. But yes the SP is better because of its backlight, rechargable batteries. I also think its got better buttons, because now my D-pad and my A button don't work like they used to on my GBA. If they made a GBA with recharge battery, backlight. etc I would buy it.

So what if you have a DS? I have one yeah. But that doesn't mean I'll stop playing GBC games.

I like the original layout better, but the backlight of the sp2 is very nice.

Out of this gen of gameboys, I would rank them in personal preference of

  1. Micro
  2. GBA SP2
  3. GBA
  4. GBA SP

7CloudStrife7

I've never had a Micro. Why did you rank it first?

I like the Micro best as well. The Micro is just a super small GBA that can only play GBA games (no color), but its screen brightness is amazing, the buttons are fantastic, and the portability of it will never be beaten. Do a google search and check out some pictures...it is the true portable gaming machine, and I love it.

Sounds like a good recommendation...maybe I'll invest in one soon.

I'm a long time DS user now, but I still have my orginal GBA. I installed an Afterburner kit with the manual dimmer pot. Far, FAR better than the SP as it is brighter. And since it's an orginal GBA it's eaiser to hold with adult hands. Good luck trying to find an Afterburner now days.

I still have my SP but it isn't the one with the backlight as i live in the UK and after playing on the DS Lite the screen on the Sp just doesn't cut it, but i do still play on it especially for Pokemon Gold.

Definitally the SP. The optional backlight helped a lot
