Even though GSTLA is an overall better game than GS you shouldn't play it before GS. I mean heck it starts 5 minutes before GS ends. But GS + GSTLA should be the same price as FFVI so get both. Not a big fan of FFVI myself but can't deny it's a good game.
Final fantasy VI. Much deeper story and more fun gameplay, IMO. Final Fantasy V would be second, having the best gameplay of the GBA RPGs but less interesting story. Golden Sun would be in third. For whatever reason i never could get into Lost Age, but i did love the first Golden Sun.
FF VI i'd have to say. Though its a remake, i think it will live on forever. The story, fall in love with the characters, and don't forget the music. Now they just need to do the same with Chrono Trigger and i'm set!
As much as I hail FFVI as to being the greatest RPG ever for its time (so many childhood hours wasted...), I'd have to go with the Golden Sun combo if you are able to pick-up both...
It's just the difference between an SNES port that isn't 100% faithful (technical limitations of the GBA due to lack of a better coding team), and a new franchise that makes you wonder how the hell Camelot (the developer) managed to pull off everything they have in the two games, as they've literally pushed the boundaries (of the time) as to what the GBA is fully capable of.....not to mention Golden Sun is just damn good also.
you can get both golden suns used now for about 15-18 dollars at game stop. i saw golden sun for 7 dollars and lost age for 10 dollars. i got both when they came out though. if you had to choose one or the other you should choose the original so if you do ever get the sequel, you can get all the dijinn/dijinni
