I read somewhere Nintendo didn't announce ANY GBA game. The GBA was not on the Nintendo booth at E3 06. So... I guess this is the beginning of the end right? I don't think Nintendo's first and second party devs will develop a GBA game anymore, so that means we're stuck with EA's miserable ports like FIFA 06 and the likes. Damn, that means it's over now. I don't hope so (and why does Nintendo announce anything while the Game Boy Micro is on the shelves for such a short period?).

Nintendo announced that they'd be stopping GBA support.  The last round of games was announced but the system has been dead for a while in terms of releases compared to DS and PSP.

As much as I hate to see it go it looks like the GBA is dead if not dying.  Thank God for all the games we have been able to get over the years.  I do agree with one of the other posters here though I don't think Nintendo wants to lose it's Gameboy Moniker so don't be surprised if they do something else with it down the road.

There's going to be some really good games coming out for it soon like ff6, and ff5, and umm... maybe earthbound 3, hopefully.

Yes it is. Strange though Nintendo said at the E3 of 2 years ago that the DS would be treated as a different console, not as a successor of the gba. We'll just have to wait till gba 2 comes out.

Not for me I just bought a GBA sp and I find it fantastic and fun. Of course I've been out of the loop for a long while and I'm enjoying lot's of older games. Pro skater 2, metroid zero mission, mario superstar saga and Warioland 4 this game is my favorite so far it's so funny!

It didn't die when the DS came out. The DS came out in Nov 2004. They've put out over 150 GBA games since then, like: Zelda: Minish Cap,  FF4 Advance,  Fire Emblem,  Harvest Moon,  FF 1&2,  Kingdom Hearts,  Pokemon Emerald,  Warioware Twisted

You've got that Yggdra game, and the Final Fantasies to look forward to. That's it.

Yeah, GBA got some remarkable support after the release of the DS.  That's fine by me, I like my Classic NES GBA-SP >.> I wish they would have done something similar for the DS.

it's bad news but no surprise. ah well, the gba has got lots of good games i missed out so even when there aren't any games released for the gba anymore, i can still play through a lot of games. I guess the DS didn't come at a good time for Nintendo, because the average length of a generation of video game consoles is five years. Now the GBA was released in 2001 and it's succesor (although Nintendo sees the DS as a different trademark) came in 2004, which is 2 years too early. Then again, Nintendo didn't have any choice. The PSP was scheduled for release 2005, so when Nintendo would wait until Q4 2006, PSP had an easy start. In Europe, this favour was given to the DS, because it was released in May and the PSP in september. but isn't nintendo working on something they call the Gameboy Evolution or anything?

i just realise something. if nintendo has two portable brands, they endanger the succes of oen brand in favor of the other. If the Game Boy Evolution or whatever the thing will be called is released next to the DS, it kills the DS or the DS kills the GB Next-Gen. So they aren't working on a new gameboy or the new gameboy is the succesor of the DS. if the latter one is true, nintendo throws away a popular brand. Fortunately,i'm not mr. iwata and if i was, i would've called he DS the Game Boy Wii (GBW), also to stress the Wii - Gameboy connectivity.

i knew it was dying as soon as they announced the ds lite, because they were making the new ds system,so i picked up the micro, because i was sure it would be the last gameboy system.i still rmember beating super mario on them on my sisters gameboy when i was 3,i still think the early 90's was the best time to be a gamer.
