In CoM, you go through as both Sora, and eventually, another character (I wont ruin it for ya). Soras story is basically similar to the first, in that its Sora (and, when you unlock it, the other Characters) memory. Of course, the Organization has plans for Sora, which I will not ruin for you.
Seeing as how youve played two, its basically the bridge. You learn what happened to the other Organization members that you only heard about in KH2. The games got a pretty interesting story, but having played the KH2, you already probably have a grasp on whats happening.
If you think it'll help you better understand KH2, go ahead. I cant say if it will or not. Personally, in my opinion, its a gem on the GBA. Its got the card battling system, but once you get used to it, I think it plays really nice. Its not like other card battling games, where movement is restricted. Some of the card scenarios are a bit tedious, like getting a certain Card number of a certain card color for the map cards. But all in all, its a fun game.
The games more centered on Sora, and not Donald and Goofy. By this, I mean you can still get help from Donald and Goofy, but there restricted to cards that randomly fall during battle. Its got cutscenes for major events (with no voice acting, but, its still good), voice acting in battles (You'll hear everyone make a sound when hit, or dealing out a hit), and even plays Simple and Clean during the end credits, which is pretty good for the GBAs audio.
Its a fun game. Sometimes I pop it in when Im bored of playing my other games. It doesnt have much replay value, and no Colluseum or any extra challenges after you beat the game, but its still pretty fun, IMO. If you like Kingdom Hearts, its a good buy IMO. Although theres a rumor of KH2 Final Mix might come to the US, with a 3d version of CoM on it. I wouldnt wait around for it though... This is Square were talking about...
kingdom hearts: chain of memories for GBA was pretty boring when i first played it
alot of hack and slash and card collecting if you're into that sort of thing
i never finished the game so i wouldnt know if it was any good

Same here, unfortunately.
Chain of Memories is the bridge between KH1 and 2.
Although the storyline, really isn't anything special (in my opinion), the gameplay is pretty addicting. It's a fun game, and I think any fan of the series should consider giving it a try.flfylmnfish
i was never a fan of card-based gameplay, but indeed i found the game quite fun. and when you take into account the fact that it's been a budget game for a while it's a pretty good deal.
