How does Riviera: The Promised Land compare to the Golden Sun series and Final Fantasy?

The gameplay is nearly the same, but the exploration is all done by menus, so in that sense it's nothing like them.

I've played both riviera and golden sun. Both are unique but both are awesome games. Riviera does have some kind of multiple endings if I'm correct.

They are very different. Actually.

While with golden sun yo uget the armor and the swords and what not

Riviera you only get to pick 4 items to take onto the battle field. So it takes a little thought not much though. And better characters and art design in riviera...

Riviera and Golden Sun are both the best RPGs you can find on the GBA. While you can explore the world freely in Golden Sun by walking around or sailing with the boat, Riviera is somewhat limited in that way. You can only choose to examine certain objects or pick a hall to go to, when there are two or three.

Even though it feels limited, Riviera plays away like nothing you've ever played before. Same goes to Golden Sun.

I wouldn't say Riviera is limited, i would say that Riviera is very well planned and put on march... and the importance of every move you take in Riviera is so huge in what comes after that, is very challenging, in that way is a bit different from Final Fantasy or Golden Sun... and it requires some button-mashing skill, which is curious... i really like Riviera a lot... :)
