I bought my brother a GB Micro last May. Yesterday, I've read on some other threads that 2007 is the last year of the GBA, meaning they are no longer going to release games for the system. Now, I'm planning on selling my brother's micro at Ebay, & get him at least a DS Phat. What do you think? Thanks!

Now, I know what I am going to say will get several people pissed off at me and call me a fanboy, but I am not. I would say to save the money and get yourself one of the new PSP when it comes out. I have both a DS and a PSP, while the DS has some great games that I love to play, I just find myself using my PSP way more often then I use the DS. Just my recomendation, if you want a DS fine with me, its your money.

Well i would ask him 1st and let him know what you plan on doing:P

But yes, that is a very good idea, the DS is compatable with GBA games, so he would be able to purchase and play more games in the long run. The only draw back is that it cannot play original game boy games, but not too many people play those old ones anymore anyways.

So yes, it is a very good decision.

I don't think the Micro plays the old GB carts either, you need an SP to do that.

But I will say that the GBA carts do stick out the front of the DS. I got my micro for this reason, my ds wouldn't fit in its case if I left my game in, and I kept losing that little port cover.

The micro is so much more convenient if you just want to play GBA games, and although they are gunna stop making new games, there is such a big back catalogue that you shouldn't worry. For alot of games the second screen and extra buttons of the DS are just redundant, Super Mario Bro is a good example.

Don't get me wrong, I love the DS, but don't right the micro off before its time. The DS will always be there.

I have always wanted to play my PSP, but there are no good games. Or at least games that last for months. I like mine for its music, and internet browser, and just being cool, but there are no games. I would say go with a DS, its well worth the upgrade

I am going to respectful about this but what do you mean no good games?

You haveGTA:ViceCityStories,GTA:LibertyCityStories,CC:FFVII,GodOfWarChainsofOlympus, MGSPortableOps,Burnout Legends, SOCOM Navy Seals, and Daxter just to name a few. There are plenty of good PSP games you just don't have the right ones.

Well I'm going to be respectful as well. Although those games really arent bad, some of them are just ports, nothing wrong with athat though since you can take them anywhere. The stickler is that he wants a handheld system for his little brother, who I assume is young. The games that you listed off are a bit mature and some are very violent. This is ok if you are 17 and up but not if it is a kid, so the DS has more games that are fun for all ages.

I already got my brother a DS, but I still have the Micro with me. I'm currently selling it at Ebay. Hopefully, I'll be able to sell it on the 25th.

I do agree that the PSP is good, but I just think the DS has better games because the games are super fun. I'm also planning on getting a PSP. Maybe after I get a Wii. We currently have a PS2, but I no longer play with it, only my brother. Maybe when Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law is released, I'll be playing it again.
