:o. Umm, where have you been? liljon546
yeah, thats what i was thinking, and if you do like it, get a ds and pokemon diamond or pearl version
Pokemon is a series of Turn Based RPGs. Your character goes around the over world, trying to collect badges, which increase your Pokemons stats and allow you to control them at a higher level. The point of this is to become the greatest Pokemon trainer ever, by challenging the Elite 4. Along the way, you find out about a criminal organization, planning acts of evil. Whos job is it to stop them? Not the police, thats silly. Your character!
The story is bare bone, bread and water. Theres no exciting plot twists that will make you wonder if your character is good or evil. The leader of the Elite 4 doesnt proclaim he is your real father, then cuts off your hand. You get where Im going with this. However, plot was not really a strong point, its gameplay.
There are, in the GBA games, 386 Pokemon. Of them, you can only use six per team, with four moves. Pokemon themselves are small monsters, animals, whatever, that a trainer collects in Pokeball's to tame them. There are tons of Pokemon, and lots of them evolve, or change form and get new strengths, etc. Its complicated to say. Instead of equiping armor and weapons, you have to set up your Pokemon with a mix of four attacks, and try to cover its type resistance. You can equip a single item to a Pokemon, like Leftovers, which heals a bit of HP each turn.
Pokemons not easy to type about and tell people about. Its something you have to play to understand. Theres tons of stuff that goes on. Not every Pokemon is available in every version, but that doesnt mean you have to buy every game. Its, well, its hard to explain.
If you have a GBA or DS, and are unpatient, I would get Emerald Version (a Remix of Ruby and Sapphire) and either FireRed or LeafGreen, remakes of the original. If you can, depending on which GBA system you own, but Crystal, or Gold or Silver (Crystals my personal favorite), which were released on the GBC. While not as advanced, there GREAT games. If you have a DS, I would wait till April, and try Diamond or Pearl (only difference is catchable Pokemon per game), which are suposedly, really good, expecially with Wifi Battles and trading. If your impatient, pick up any of the games. There all fun. Crystal, Emerald, and FireRed OR LeafGreen (only difference is catchable Pokemon) are my favorites that are out. Diamond and Pearl are going to be great, with 493 catchable Pokemon.

Thank you very much you answered all my questions. I have all forms of the GB, original, color, SP (and micro) and DS and DS Lite, so I should be okay ;) I will get Emerald and Leafgreen and then get one of the new DS ones right now on eb, since I want complete copies.
Thanks again.
I seriously cant belive you dont know what pokemon is. AdaShofLiMe
Up until today I knew that Pokemon was short for pocket monster, it was a property owned by Nintendo and was a popular video game series, tv series and card game that spawned a lot of merchandise. I have Pokemon Snap and know about Pikachu and Jigglypuff from SSMB.
I guess I stayed away from it because I am old and it had the stigma of being a 'kid' thing, but it occurred to me I should know more about it since I am a serious collector and someone who likes turn-based RPGs, and if Pokemon was turn based I wanted to 'catch 'em all'.

The Pokemon RPGs for the DS isn't out yet. So if you do pick up a DS Pokemon game you likely won't be happy with it. Go on and get Emerald and LeafGreen, but hold off till the end of next month (that is if you live in NA) to get a Pokemon DS game. Next month is when Diamond and Pearl comes out.[QUOTE="aspro73"][QUOTE="_great_waddles_"]get Emerald Version (a Remix of Ruby and Sapphire) and either FireRed or LeafGreen, remakes of the original. Yeah dude, go onto eBay and buy any of them,,, probably best getting the latest possible. They cant cost that much now!!!! daytona_178Actually they're one of the few games that rarely go down in price due to their popularity... When Pokemon first came out, I was a senior in High School, so I didn't experience it until a couple of summers ago. Boy was I missing out. It's actually a very solid game. If it were not for the stigma of being a "kid's game" it would rank right up there with the FF series. Of course not the one-off games like Dash, Ranger, etc...

A lot of people think that it is a kid thing, but its not. The tv show, all the toys and stuff, Alll thats for kids. But the games are for anyone.Note that you can catch up to 426 pokemon at one time, via a pc. if you catch a pokemon and your team is full(you can only carry 6 pokemon around with you and the rest are stored in a pc.) the pokemon is sent to a pc.Pokemon is a series of Turn Based RPGs. ^ Of course. Not all Pokemon are available in every game.
The DS games are bad, at best (Blue Dungeon, which is completely different from normal ones is debatable, but, still. I dont think it looks good) The 22nd of April is when the Diamond/Pearl games are released.
If you judge Pokemon off of anything other then the RPG games, Stadium/Colo games, or Pinball, youll get a bad impression. The anime is pretty bad, and most games other then the ones listed (Snap was fun, I thought). The RPGs do contain a bit of cheesy ness and a few kiddy facts, but there pretty fun. There worth a try at the least. Its not a guarentee youll like em though. Same with the way I like Kingdom Hearts, Ratchet and Clank, and GTA, and others don't.
