It is no longer THE handheld system anymore.  While there are, most likely, still more GBAs than PSPs or DSs, its time is definitely coming to an end.

I don't think it's dead...I mean the DS is an extension of it just with a diferent name, isn't it?

Besides, I looove my SP, it's the best, just they need to launch more  good games

As much as I hate to admit it, if it wasn't for FFV and FFVI coming, GBA would be dead. :(

only idiots would write off the GBA. have you seen the release list? and by the way, what do you think people go for when they try to buy a DS only to find all the DSes have gone? thats right a GBA. what is that second slot that is underneath the touch screen of a DS? yes its a GBA slot. yeeesh.

This is its last year, after 2006 its pretty much dead but it at-least had good 5 year run and it has great successor in the form of the DS. Oh well, that's video gaming for you out with the old system and in with the new during every change over, I'm used to it.

This has been discussed before, & I will say the same thing I said before, the GBA is far from dead. Nintendo may be putting more focus on the DS & the Rev launch, but their are plenty of third party games coming out for the GBA. Also, the GBA was the best selling handheld of 2005, so that doesn't sound like a dead system to me. And, Nintendo has already stated that the DS is not the successor to the GBA.

I say it's dead. Not only can it play the original GBA games at a better resolution and brighter screen, but it's not THAT much more expensive to be able to play free online and 3D games using 2 screens. The GBA was a good system for years, and with it's long run you can't say it didn't make an impact on the world.

I havent been following the GBA but it seems as if there are many games coming out for it anymore.  All development is probably switching over to the DS or possibly the PSP.

It's dead when no one thinks about it. And as you can see we're all talking about it, maybe about if it's dead or not but we don't talk about the GBC any more and that's what makes it dead. If it was truly dead then we wouldn't look back. *turns head around*

i dont think about it as dead..I have a ton of games to buy for it including (drill dozer and FFIV )i'm far behind in terms of GBA games to buy...I just buy GBA games to play on my DS, but GBA has done what it was meant to do and it still has lots of  life in it..

Still has plenty of life in it...

Without my GBA, I couldn't play Link's Awakening, Final Fantasy Legend II, Dragon Warrior III, or any other GB, GBC games.  The DS can't play games all the way back from those days.

Plus, there's still quite a few GB, GBC, and GBA games on my buying list.

Bring it to system wars. I dont want to hear you **** If you don't like it, go away. This is also not the DS board is it? If we'd rather want a GBA, good for us. We don't care if you like it better or whatnot.

It really is a tough call. Right before a Nintendo system "dies", very few games are released during its final year of production. It's very possible we are seeing this with the GBA. On the other hand, I have not seen game companies release alternate models of a system right before they halt game production on it (the exceptions being the second model of the NES and the third model of the GEN). The GBA has had four model overhauls if you don't include the DS (which I don't because, as others have said, it can't play original GB and GBC games and it does not have a cable link for multi-player, so you better get used to playing Pokemon without the ability to trade and get them all!). The Micro is probably one of the biggest jokes to the GB family (no offense to anyone out there who has one) since the screen is smaller and prone to scratches. Back on topic, with the release of the second model of the SP with the brighter screen, I can see Nintendo and other companies still cranking out games for their most successful system to date.

it's not really dead, it's just the ds can play the GBA games and also play ds games(obviously)

and you cant say something really and truly dead just cause you said it, lots of people still play GBA and dont play the ds, simply because they think the GBA is better probably

from Spong - dated today...!! " The GBA continues to also do well for Nintendo, with Pokémon continuing to go from strength to strength. Sales of the latest game Pokémon Emerald have reached an impressive 1.2 million since it launched in October 2005. " OK?

i dont think the gba is dead (for now..), currently it has a good slice of Nintendo revenues and i dont think that they will want to loose it, but i do think that the system will fade away in 2-3 years and there will be less and less new games coming to it in the coming year...

Well... I bought a Gameboy Micro last week. I chose it over PSP because it has far more 2D games, no loading times and its cheaper.

I agree. GBA is dead. DS is the same as GBA, but double screen, better games, better graphics, better controls, and with a pen!

Dead as door nails, the hand held world is moving on. Thats not to say there isn't a bit of fun left to have with it if you arent expecting to much by the way of big or plentiful titles.

Its not dead yet, there are still plenty of games that are going to come out for it.
Plus how could it be dead if its still comming in differnt colors like the more recent teal and pink verisons?
plus it was the handhelded system of the year in 2005! Its far from dead.

The GBA only got life for me when the DS came out, I was never that interested in it, but since getting my DS I have bought many more GBA games than DS games, it is the RPG system of choice...

all the good things must come to an end, the gba's time is almost over... I loved the gba though, Im not too fond of the ds but times change I guess
