This ia a great question, I own both games and have to definitely give Metroid Fusion the better game recommendation and here's why. The game is longer, the game is more original, fantastic story, I like the graphics a little better, the game is more challenging and it's the first original 2D metroid to be released since Super Metroid for the SNES, I must say however that both games are extremely good and you can find them both used for a good price so do yourself a favour and get them both!

Metroid Zero Mission! Zero Mission gives you the totally new and revamped version of the first Metroid. Then when you beat Zero Mission you can play the original Metroid. Now if you ask me thats pretty awesome.

Zero Mission. The game allows more freedom of exploration. That's the only problem I had with Fusion, it was probably the most linear Metroid game ever.

They're both really good so ideally you should get both if you can. Fusion is much more linear than Zero Mission. You have a computer navigator who scoots you from one place to the next. ZM is much more open-ended and exploration oriented. Both excellent games though.

I personally found FUSION to be shorter, more linear, and less interesting.

I much prefered ZERO MISSION, which aside from being the longer, better looking and more interesting game, also includes an unlockable version of the original NES Metroid.  Zero Mission is definately more bang for your buck.

Note Fusion links with the gc Metroid Prime. It works on the wii btw so keep that gba link cable or buy one at online retailers if you don't. I may buy a gba sp and link cable now since they are dirt cheap. That was the problem with connectivity when it come out for the gc too expensive and gba wasn't that common among game players. Connectivity makes a lot more sense with the wii/ds.

Both games are great but if you're only going to get one I would really suggest Fusion. I think it's more fun and I like the bosses better, plus it's an original game.

I would say Fusion. It was out first and I have more fond memories of it. IGN just posted a list of the 25 best games on the GBA. They rank Zero Mission higher than Fusion. It's still cool that both were on the list at least.

Zero Mission. Often times you will find yourself wanting to play it over even after you've beaten it. Plus the unlockable Metroid.
