Yet seven years later, when Metriod Prime ended up being better than that demo, Twilight Princess as well...

Most people remember the Gamecube with disappointment and disdain. Too bad really.

That was what was known as Mario 128, a tech demo of sorts. People thought it would be the Mario game at launch, but Pikmin was what is thought to of been derived from that.

Not I, it was my favorite console last gen, a lot of memorable games for the cube. I still have some games that I want to beat from its library.

I remember that video. That video had me psyched out of my MIND. It was the reason I bought the system. Oh how crushed I was when they released the first screens of Wind Waker.

It's all relative. The GameCube was the best system in a generation full of disappointment.
Whoo.

That Metroid scene was ripped right out of Stargate SG1!  The scene was a spaceship where robotic spiders called replicators had eaten the inside of a submarine and fused earth's technology with its own.  The reason they're running is because they ran out of ammo and needed to reach the gate to teleport out while creating a distraction to blow up the ship in hopes of destroying them.
The reason Samus was running is because they absorb energy blasts, so she's pretty much screwed in terms of beating them.

I remember that! Those demos were great and although Nintendo said they were all demos we started imagining how cool would the next zelda game look like.
