Ive completed every resident evil in the main series.

RE 1 (remake and original)

Re 0

RE 2

RE 3

RE Code Veronica

RE 4

People tell me they love resident evil, when they have only played 4. They turn on RE 1 and tell me it sucks, it pisses me off.

You are not a fan if you only like RE 4, cause re 4 isnt really a resident evil game, although its great.

It irritates me how people hate the others but love 4.

RE Gaiden GBC

I like the series its really cool, i am a big fan, i also played Dead Aim, but havent completed it (i go to my friend house to play it ;) )

I really hate people saying that RE original edition is bad, in fact, it created the serie,, its still a cool game to play, (i play it n my DS now)

Well I got into the series with Resident Evil 4, played the game 20+ times including both the GC and Wii versions and loved it very much. After that I've been really interested with the Resident Evil series, I ended up buying REmake on the GC and again I loved it. Although their are things I love in RE4, I have to say that REmake did a lot of things right that RE4 didn't really have...

Anyways I've been trying to get as many RE game as possible, I should be able to find RE2 for the GC somewhere, If I can't I can always hope for a release of it for the Wii's VC (N64 version) or a remake of somekind. I'm also trying to find the rest of the series, GC ports of them if possible...

Although I'm not exactly a true fan yet seeing how I've missed alot of games I should get there sooner or later, oh and can't wait for RE:UC.

Shmiity, I've never met anyone like that. Are you sure the people you're talking about didn't mean to say Resident Evil 4, but just verbally cut it short to Resident Evil? If you are, then yes I guess it would be annoying. But I find it annoying, when people say Resident Evil 4 isn't a real Resident Evil game. It is and, from the looks of things, future games in the series will retain 4's style of gameplay. Resident Evil has changed.

I've played through RE(Saturn Version), Code Veronica, Zero, and RE4(Gamecube) and RE4 is my favorite. I want to get my hands on RE2 and REmake, though.

P.S- Zero is ,by faaaar, my least favorite of the ones I've completed, and I gave up on RE3 after a few hours. Those two really disappointed me.

I have only played RE4, personally, and I loved it. I may not be a Resident Evil aficianado or anything, but technically, it does make me and other RE4 players 'Resident Evil fans'.

I went through a similar situation with my beloved Suikoden series a short time ago on the PS2. While the underground gamer in me disliked the fact that what felt like my personal secret treasure was now being discussed by a mainstream audience, who had no love or appreciation for the history of the series, I did find a wonderful silver lining. More people enjoying and buying your game means more good Resident Evil games for you in the future.

We really don't belong in the die hard Resident Evil club, I guess, but remembering that our dollars in Capcom's pockets make them very inclined to gear up for RE6 and 7 and 8 might help you feel less annoyed toward us.

It doesn't annoy that they say that they are RE fans but it does annoy me when they start slagging off at the games that run on the previous engine. Also, in my opinion a person who has been there fromRE1 would be far more likely to say that REmake or RE2 are the best in the series instead of RE4.

Yup, I hate it when people do that, they know nothing of RE games and they call them selves RE fans. I've been a RE fan since RE2 and I love the old games as much as I do RE4.....

I've beaten

REmake

RE1 (orginal and DS)

RE2

RECVX

RE0

RE Outbreak

RE4

As far as im concerned RE4 is not a "real" RE game.
Its just too different. I cant wait till ive completed Metroid Prime so I can free up some time to go back and play all the original ones..and of course REmake :P

No because I'm one of those people. I hate the horrible and clunky controls of the old games. I hate the annoying camera angles. I voice acting is terrible in old games. RE4 is just a better game all around. It fixed everything that wrong with the RE series, while still keeping the good points.

^These are the kinds of people you are talking about right?

First of all, the voice acting isn't that much better in RE4, cheesy voiceovers is part of the RE franchise. Second, older RE games didn't have "bad controls" or "poor camra angles" that is just propaganda the reviews use. The controlls may be annoying at first but they arn't as "horrible" as people say, same goes for the camra angles. Sure, RE4 has better camra angles but the genre also changed too, RE4 is focused on action while the order installments were foucused on adventure, exploration, and horror.

I have played resident evil 2 , Code Veronica , and number 4. In my opinion number 4 is the best , the new controls have revived the series for me . After I finished 4 I went back to play code veronica and found the controls stiff. I wouldnt get annoyed at people only liking number 4 , it just shows how its advanced.

There's the problem right there. If a control system is successful, the player shouldn't have to get used to it and it shouldn't be annoying at first. I should be able to pick it up, understand it and play nearly instantly. Also, you cannot say the old RE games have good controls. People aren't supposed to control like tanks.

same goes for the camra angles.

The camera angles work to make the game scary but they make gameplay tough. They are fixed so at times you can't see where you want and aiming can be difficult. Here's an example: you'll be walking down a hallway and the camera will be fixed in front of you; you move forward and the camera angle jumps to in front of you. Not only is it annoying but the controls change as the angle changes: forwards is now backwards, vice versa.

I just felt that RE4 changed the series for the better. Also, for the record I don't consider myself an RE fan but I'm a fan of RE4.

I think RE4 is the best in the series too. Its just the other games are so underappritiated by people who have only played RE4.

Totally agree. I'd have preferred it Capcom had given us RE3.5 instead, which looked more like a true resident evil title with more focus on adventure and exploration. RE4 is imo just an FPS in the guise of an RE game, but it seems that's what most game reviewers wanted anyhow.

yea, its annoying, some of my mates played it on ps2 and say its good, but they dont like RE 0-3 because they cant get the hang of the controlles or the limited ammo and the save system. iv completed them all on the gamecube, i was too young to of played them properly on the ps1, i remember not having a clue where to go in RE2 on the ps1, and going north at the start then getting stuck, i hoped there was a revamp graphics version for the GC but on, only a dumb port, shame since RE 0 and 1 were realy good for the GC( yes i know 0 was GC only)

i'm new to the re series because i never had a system that supported them.

now that i got my wii i put off buying re4 because i want to enjoy the series from start to finish.

i just started re0 and i love it, yes the controls are different and slightly more challenging, but i like that. it makes you feel like your not in control, makes it scary!

i'm sure i'll like re4, it'll just have to wait it's turn.

It happens. I played RE4 and it made me a Resident Evil fan. I've played most all the games at one time or another although I've only beaten the REmake and RE4. But just because I've not played or beaten every single game doesn't mean I'm not a fan. I'm a fan, just not to the extent as most of you are.

RE 4 was a great game, it just wasn't exactly a great Resident Evil game. I think a lot of long term fans of the series were put off by the new direction and I can certainly understand why they felt this way. But on the other hand I think even the most seasoned RE veterens agreed that the series was in need of some kind of overhaul at least in some areas. The result was an undeniably great and fun game, but just not in the same ways that most hard core RE fans were used to. Players who enjoyed RE 4 should realize that it represents a major departure for the series and that the games that came before it are great games also in their own right, just in different ways.

I got into RE when I played RE2 back in 99 when my father got the game along with the first. I do get annoyed because well, anyone who says the older ones suck because of the isometric angles and controls are epic failure artists in my opinion. You gotta appreciate the classics people!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a true fan of theRE series would definately own or plan to buy UC because they would want to experience the downfall of Umbrella first-hand. *Ducking for cover*

I really think that when Resident Evil 4 came out people started to notice the Resident Evil Franchise but when they played the original games they were disappointed but they continue to call themselves Resident Evil fans because their first Resident Evil was 4, and Resident Evil 5 seems to be the same exact thing which is why they are hyped about it.

I've played and beat all the games except for Gun Survivor which didn't appeal to me. I first played Resident Evil when it first came out for the PlayStation in 1996 I think or maybe it was late 1995. I've read the novels, and bought posters and a Resident Evil 2 shirt when RE2 was first released. I am a Resident Evil Fan, and I'm damn proud of that.

OK, I'll tell you why me, and people like me are true fans of the series.

The first resident evil game i ever bought was resident evil 2 for the N64. I did not get a chance to play it at that time thought, as I had lost it and forgot about it, and anyways that is beside the point.

I picked up resident evil 4 on the GC and played it. This is one of just a handful of games that I ever played that I couldn't put the controller down. I beat this game in under a week (I don't know how long it takes most people, but I consider that good for myself). And when I was finished playing, I thought to myself, what I have been missing out on all this time. So i went online and ordered resident evil 1 (remake) and re0, and started playing re4 again, I beat the game again for the second time, before the other games came in. At this point I was very excited to start playing REmake (as some people like calling it). When I started playing in didn't expect the controls to be the way that they were, I thought they would be similar like re4. So I tried to get used to the newer (or older, whatever) controls. One thing is for sure, it definitely different.

My point is, doesn't this make me a true fan. In my opinion, a true fan would by a sequel or other games in the series if he or she missed out on them before, on the basis that he or she loved what they found and couldn't get enough of it.

Well I've hated Resident evil series for a while but Resident evil 4 Changed my mind sure RE series has a great plot but they really werent fun unlike Resident evil 4 that is what i look forward to the next series so it keeps getting better and better.
