Are Zelda games as good as they use to be.

Zelda TP has just come out and has been talked about that the Zelda series might not be as good as it use to be and the past few Zelda games  have not been as good as they should what do you think are they getting better or not.

I do not think that they are getting better. I thought Wind Waker was a great improvement because of the graphics risk it took. I think it paid out in the end. TP in my opinion was a little bit of a disappointment. If you're goal is to try and top Ocarina of Time, make sure there are as many, if not more dungeons. I thought that a lot of the dungeons were poorly designed and most didn't have the wow factor (Except for the Snowhead Temple in my opinion). Nintendo has to do something, or else Zelda will start turning into Mega Man. Started off pretty good, but the fact that each game repeats the same formula, the series starts to become boring and cliche.

In my opinion all Zelda games are damn good, I don't think there is a big difference in quality when comparing all of them.

I haven't played wind waker but from the look of it it seemed risky. Twilight princess is actually a really good game but nothing will ever top ocarina of time i think. They are also hard to relate because one was made so long after the  other.

I agree with the one above me ^___^ All Zelda games are good, and if the newer games are attracting new fans every day, then whose to say they aren't well done and fantastic? It is all personal preference on which game is the ultimate Zelda game *though to many it is OOT, and that is my opinion as well* But the developers are taking risks and testing new things, and to make a great game, you need that risk factor. I'm just glad that TP finally came out, I was getting really pissed off with having all the delays.

I think they'll eventually get back up there again. It's hard to top something like OoT, though, just because of how great it was/is. TP was a pretty good game, I liked it... but yeah, I expected there to be more than what there was. :( Hopefully Phantom Hourglass is something new and awesome.

I think Zelda is still going strong. You can't beat classics, but I think Nintendo is still doing a great job with Zelda because they constantly add new features and levels of gameplay, as well as constantly expanding the story line.

I think TP was a great game, but not really better than WW, MM or OoT. It will be hard to improve on it, save making it longer and longer. And at some point that becomes too much too. That is the problem with series of this nature and a huge fan base. I would like to see bigger, harder dungeons and bosses though.

It's because all of the games are so good you expect each new one to be insanely fun and amazing, and they never live up to that expecation, even though they are all very well made

So true. How can you top A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time? As much as Nintendo may try, they really can't. They're still great games though.

I think that Zelda is a hit and miss series.

Firstly, my opinion on Wind Waker: not a huge fan of it. It was a good solid game, it played pretty good and all, but it just didn't have that good Zelda feel that the others in the series had. I'm not going to lie to you, it was the art forbidden>

Minish Cap and Wind Waker were both fun excellent adventures.  TP gets criticized because Aunoma made lots of mistakes making the game to suit the population who just wanted "TEH MaTuRE LinK."

When a game sets out just to please certain people and while trying not to offend others, it fails on both fronts.

The only reason i dont like them as much is the difficulty of them now. The final battles of TP were so easy as were all the bosses in the game.

Twilight Princess was the answer to what fans have been whining about since the release of Majora's Mask. A straight forward, mature themed Zelda game. The effort to make this game stand out from the rest of the series while retaining all of the nostalgia players wanted was incredible. Although many complain about Twilight Princess, it really is a masterpiece in it's own right. While many complaints are legitamate, I think expectations for this game were unreasonably high. Worst game in the series? Hardly. Best game? Debatable. Is the Zelda series on a downhill slope? Absolutely not.

With Twilight Princess, Nintendowas giving gamers exactly what they said they wanted. Thanks to Twilight's lukewarm reception, I doubt we'll ever see Nintendo do that again. Nintendo is right; what gamers want is what they don't know.

I think the stroyline of TP was better that OoT, but for some reason I still like OoT better. This may sound crazy but it's sort of like a drug. When you take a drug for a first time you get a "good sensation", and then you keep taking the drug to get the same great sensation but can never get it again. Sort of like games OoT was a the game that gave you "great senstation", but you are out playing of Zelda games, and yet you can't get the same level of "great sensation" you had when you played OoT. I know a lot of people are going to make strange comments about this, but that's a good way to think about it. In other words, I think Zelda game aren't as good a they use to be.

Haha, yeah. It's funny because you described that pretty good. You're never gonna get that "first-time" feeling when you go back and play pretty much any game that you've beaten, and liked. At least that's how I see it, comparing it to what you said. Twilight Princess was a great game, though, imo.

I think the Zelda series as a whole is brilliant. The TP game to some fans was better than OOT but to many they claim OOT to be better and I haven't played OOT but I think the game is really good of what I have seen from OOT it sounds great. I will say that Zelda games are staying the same not getting worse and not getting better they are staying the same which is good.

OT, but there's no one on the other thread.  In Princess, I got the statue in the Temple of Time, went and got the big key, paused it, came back later, and when I went back to the scale room, the statue was gone.  STG.  Gone. Nowhere to be found anywhere in the temple.  I went out of the game and came back in, and it still wasn't there. Anyone had this experience?

I think that Nintendo made Twilight Princess a little easier so that people could get used to the new control setup. If they made it as challenging as the others, people might not like it, because it would be too hard. I think that the games will become more challenging as time goes on... but that's just my opinion...

Well, it's still a valid point, since the GameCube version is the same as the Wii version. Only without the motion controls and ... reversed.

Zelda game are good but it's very hard to compete with the old zelda games like OoT because that game took it to the next level and we're all expecting nintendo to come out with another game that blows all our minds and takes gaming to a new level again. Overall the games just aren't as good as we all expect them to be because we want continuouly better games out of the series.

They're not getting better.  They're getting shorter, easier, and less interesting.  WW had a stellar story, but TP was a huge step backwards.

I have a feeling that when the next Wii Zelda game comes around, people will start to like TP more.
It is my opinion that Wind Waker is one of the best Zelda games because parts of it are perfectly brilliant. It was nice that Nintendo decided to do something different with the Zelda franchise. I'm sure that everyone around here can agree that TP was overhyped a bit, something that was absent for Wind Waker. I don't hate TP, but I thought they could have changed a few things in order to make it as good a game as WW and Link's Awakening. (OoT is good too, but not one of my favorites)

Zelda games are not better than they used to be... but it's unfair to gauge games against monolithic releases like Ocarina Of Time. I really doubt they'll ever hit something like that again. But on their own, they are fantastic games and that is how they should be judged. As long as they keep putting effort and quality into their productions, there's only so much you can complain.

I think it's getting a bit better. I definitely enjoyed TP and Wind Waker was a good step in a different direction. Hopefully the next Zelda installment will be better and I'm pretty sure it will be.

i think they should make a zelda game Mature rating making link a more mature themed character.  that would be a big jump from the teen link to adult link.
