I've been a big fan of the MVP Baseball franchise since EA brought it about, and it's certainly worth your time at $10-17 (depending on whether you'd rather have Albert or Manny on the cover), but I have to admit that if you love the numbers and scouting and strategy of baseball as much as I do, MLB 2K6 deserves a look. It's got some really interesting content, like having the camera in over the shoulder of one of your baserunners and letting the computer bat for you, scouting reports on every MLB player in the game, a more challenging and realistic pitching dynamic, and some other cool stuff I can't remember. The hitting and fielding mechanics definitely take some getting used to, though. Also, it's going to be fairly hard to find, and you'd probably have to pony up around $25 bucks for it, which is probably too much to be spending for any GameCube game without the words 'Twilight Princess' or 'Super Smash' in their titles, at this point. The MVP games are most likely a safer investment for you, but MLB 2K6 with the single-most overrated athlete in professional sports, Derek Jeter on the cover is certainly an alternative.
