The Star Tropics guy would be good, but they've already got a character that attacks with a yo-yo.
My vote is for Simon Belmont, or barring that, Alucard. Let's get some vampire hunter action in there! He's got a lot of varied weapons: the whip (obviously), holy water, knives. He could be heavyweight, like Gannondorf, and maybe even have a transformation like Zelda/Sheik.
I've only briefly played at a friend's house and I was drunk as hell, so forgive me if I mention characters who are in the game that I haven't seen someone use yet, lol......

I would really like to see Sonic and Leon Kennedy (RE4) in Smash Bros. I, also, think they should add in a power-up that alters character's forms. It could change Link in to a Wolf, Sonic into Super Sonic....
Sonic, definitely Sonic. When I saw this thread, I was randomly thinking Cloud from FFVII would make a good smash brothers character. But I don't know, I think Cloud would be a very bad choice, lol. It would just seem...out of place?:?
