Do you think that Legend of Zelda : The Twillight Princess should have received a better score. I mean 8.9 is great, but this is the most anticipated game of all time! And it's ZELDA!!! Or is it really not as good as it could be and stuck in the past? You tell me.

You're right that Twilight Princess was one of the most anticipated games of all time. I feel like I've been waiting for it ever since Ocarina of Time came out back in 1998. That being said though, I can't help but feel let down by Twilight Princess. By its own merits it's an incredible game, and has everything in it that made Ocarina so great and added onto it. But I feel it borrowed from the old classic way too much. It felt recycled and repolished. It introduced just enough new gameplay mechanics to not feel like a total rehash, but I think Twilight Princess could've been much better than it ended up being. I think Zelda needs to be reinvented again like it was when it made the transformation into 3D.

TP was good, but it wasn't all that I hoped for. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorites, but the game (to me), was too easy, used the items you would get in temples little outside the temples that you get them in compaired to previous Zelda games, temples seemed easier layed out that other Zeldas. I give kudos that they didn't make it short. Clocked mine in at 100% in about 27 hours. But eh...how come they always make Hyrule big, but only a small amount of towns? I mean, they could make them a little bigger, or add a few more in there.

Supposedly that's what they're doing with the Wii Zelda, given the recent interview. Also, didn't Miyamoto say a while back that TP was the last Zelda "in it's present form" or something like that?

I just hope they take it in the right direction. I certainly don't want to see Zelda go down the same way the Mario games went down.

Yeah, TP certainly was an amazing game....but not the revolution in gaming like Ocarina was. It was nice to have one final Ocarina-like Zelda game, but it seems like it IS time for a reinvention, like Ocarina did to the 2-D Zelda's before it. Is it possible? Hopefully...But as it stands, TP probably deserved a better score. The fact that it was overly hyped and compared to its predecessors seemed to cloud judgements when looking at the game sepeartly on it's own merits-it's an amazing game by itself- just somewhat of a disapointment to everyone's unfairly high expectations.

Cheers to that!
Also, I just finished TP about an hour ago.  And I was left with the exact same thought you guys are talking about.  It's time for a change.  Not only that, but they should have done a better job on the ending.  What a dull ending.

TP was good, but I'm going to go against most people and say that I liked Windwaker better.  That game was pretty revolutionary graphics wise and made you feel as if you were acting out a cartoon.  Most people sidestepped it without giving it much of a chance, and I never thought that was fair.

But TP is still one of my favourite games, albeit it felt short and surprisingly easy.

I agree with you that WW was the better game. It had a far supperior atmosphere even though it was cell shaded, the bosses were more difficult and the levels more intricate. The fact that their was so much to do was also great. The only drawback was that there was too much sailing and that could have been overcome with a few more portals.

It should have recieved a better score, however, not by much., possibly a 9.3, or 9.5. And I think it fits it's time, it was needed for the Zelda lovers out there, and there is no better game to introduce a new system with than a classic like that.

I couldn't agree more. I was actually one of the few who wasn't overhyping Zelda in my own mind. I knew it couldn't possibly be as ground-breaking as Ocarina of Time. That said, it actually did go above and beyond my expectations. I was actually able to spend more time with the game than most people did, and that helped me to understand the decisions they made in regards to the design a little better, in my opinion. Does it deserve a higher score? I would have liked to have seen it get a 9.0, just so it had the word "superb" attached to it, but it really is a superb game anyway. The scoring system was extremely fair, so I can't really complain too much about that.

You're joking, right? The last half decent Mario game to appear on a home console was Super Mario 64. That was over 10 years ago.

I think the score it received was fine. It's just a score. Get over it. I felt Twilight Princess was a bit of a letdown. It's still a great game, though.
