Yeah, not only does the last room have the postman reading something, there is FOUR darknuts instead of three. It says so in my guide. Stuff like that occours with some of the other rooms, too.

I don't think he's talking about anything. You can also find him in the barn in Ordon where you herded the goats, in the bar in Hyrule Castle Town, behind the throne in the Zora's throne room and also on Death Mountain somewhere if I remember correctly. In each place he's hunkered down reading a letter and when you talk to him you says what he's reading out loud. I think it's just meant to show the wacky mailman acting silly.
