Obviously the GameCube as a console has now been bumped aside by the Wii,and most would contend it was on the backburner long before the Wii ever came about. But what is the future of the GameCube for you as a gamer? Personally, I didn't get my hands on one until early 2006, and have had a lot of fun with it, fully intend to keep it hooked up and at the ready somewhere in my place for at least the next five years, just playing the crap out of Resident Evil 1/0/4, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, TimeSplitters 2, F-Zero GX, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Hitman 2, Soul Calibur II, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and others. So tell me, where does the GameCube fit in your gaming life over the next year? Three years? Ten?

The kids use it now. I steal it when my 360 goes down or when I buy a game on the cheap that I've always wanted. An extremely reliable system that i see using for years.

I'm going to keep playing it.... I ain't gettin no next-gen console, and I still have a ton of games I have yet to beat. And then I can replay games like Tales of Symphonia and Fire Emblem over and over again... I love replaying games like those.

Similar story here. We've had ours for just under two years and continue to play it on a daily basis. There are still a bunch of games I wouldn't mind having so we'll squeeze another couple of years out of it. I'm thinking xmas '08 for a Wii, assuming you can find them in the stores by then. ;)

Would make a nice paper weight, perhaps a boat anchor or use it to keep one of my tables upright.

It's still in use by me. I've been playing it lately, and I have no intention to stop, unless I get a game on a different console, then I'll just set my GC aside for a bit. I could see myself still going back and playing it for years to come. It's a great system, so what if there are better ones?

I keep my Gamecube in my room, along with my PS2, Xbox, PC, Dreamcast, Saturn, N64, Genesis, NES, and SNES. My Wii is in my living room hooked up to my HDTV. My parents use it to sirf the web, as they seem incapable of operating a keyboard.

I'll be keeping and using it for a long time to come.

Obviously the GameCube as a console has now been bumped aside by the Wii

Not entirely.

Well the Gamecube as a platform is still great, but the console itself is obsolete, unless you want to play LAN games or use the Game Boy Player. The console still does its job just fine though.

GC game development is extremely close to being done, but Nintendo still makes the system and it still sells (a decent amount too). So it's not quite obsolete yet.

Well, it doesn't have the barcode on it anymore so I can't trade it in. So I'm hoping I can find someone to sell it to eventually. Until then it's just a useless piece of junk.

Well, I'll still play all the great games on my Wii, but the GC itself will likely sit in the back of the VG cabinet for all time afterward. I may pull it out if I feel the need.
