There aren't any options for a different controller, they're all made the same. Even the 3rd party one's.
It's not a bad as it looks. Every game I've ever played on my GC has a control scheme that makes using the controller easy. You'll use the A button for just about everything, and B gets alot of use too. Most of the games are simple to control.
I've owned a PS2 for the last 3 years and only recently got a Cube the first of the year, but from the short times I played one in the store and up to now, I always thought it was really comfortable.
For some reason, I like the positioning of the buttons, the trigger like shoulder buttons and the thinner grips.. for me, it eases the tension of holding onto the controller.. leads to less cramping, but that's just me.
Another thing I like is the varying sizes of buttons.. sure, they're all about memorization, but with the different sizes, you also get more of a feel for the controller and almost a second nature to controlling it.
Weird, I know, but again.. that's just me, lol.
It's one of the best controllers, I think, along with the SNES and N64 controllers.
I would go with the Wavebird. It was the best wireless controller for any system that I've ever used...until the Wii of course.
